Blast in Central Ashura Procession on M.A. Jinnah road, 22 Killed and 50 Injured

AWAZ APNI KARACHI : At least 22 people were killed and 50 others injured in a bomb explosion at Ashura procession on M A Jinnah road, here on Monday, AWAZ APNI News reported.According to the report, explosion took place near Jama Cloth.Interior Minister Rehman Malik, MQM Chief, Altaf Hussain, City Nazim Mustafa kamal and CCPO Karachi strongly condemned the incident and asked the people to maintain peace.Victims have been taken to Jinnah, Civil and other hospitals where emergency has been imposed.Police and rangers have cordoned off the area.Ambulances and Rescue teams reached the site soon after the incident.

Governor, Siraj Durrani, Mustafa Kamal speak to Press

Seven dead in Quaidabad blast

CNews KARACHI: Seven people including a child have been killed, when a blast occurred here at Gul Ahmed Chowrandi, Quaidabad on Monday evening. TPO Landhi Town, Azad Khan confirmed that explosives strapped to a motor cycle blew up, killing and injuring many. It should be mentioned that the blast site is normally a crowded market place, where people come to shop in large number. At least five dead bodies, including one of a child, have been shifted to Jinnah Post-Graduate Medical Centre. Two dead bodies are said to be present at Social Security Hospital Landhi. The ambulances of Eidhi arrived on the blast site. Also, the fire brigade vehicles have been called in. Investigation and Bomb Disposal Squad have been called. Police cordoned off the whole area and started the relief activities. Emergency has been declared in most of the hospitals of Karachi. At least 9 people have been killed in a bomb explosion in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi, police say. More than 40 others were injured in the blast in the city's Quaidabad area. Reports say the death toll could rise. Sindh province police chief Azher Farooqi said explosives had been hidden under a fruit cart. It is not clear who carried out the attack. Pakistan has been swept by a wave of suicide bombings by Islamic militants in recent months.

Benazir vows to stay in country despite attack

Over 100 dead in Benazir's rally bomb blast

CNews on Road KARACHI: At least 115 people were killed and over 100 injured when the massive rally for welcoming former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was hit by massive bomb blasts on late Thursday evening, police and hospital sources said. At least 35 bodies among many whose only body parts were recovered were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. The rally was bombed just after the Karsaz flyover. Other bodies including that of 34 people were taken to Liaquat National Hospital. It is reliably learnt that PPP Chairperson and former prime minister and other main leaders of the party who were onboard on main truck of the welcome remained safe however some of the leaders received injuries and were rushed to the nearby hospitals. 19 MQM workers burnt alive in fire in Karachi

KARACHI: MQM’s 19 workers were burnt in two incidents of fire in firecrackers in the areas of Karachi – Korangi and Lyari. Four of them are in critical condition. MQM leader Altaf Hussain has expressed deep sorrow over these tragic incidents. According to a press release issued from the MQM in Karachi, a great rally was organized by the MQM in Korangi to celebrate the victory of President Pervez Musharaff’s success in the presidential election. During the rally, the party workers were riding in various vehicles when the firecrackers’ material suddenly caught fire and 15 activists of the MQM Korangi Sector, Unit 77 wereburnt alive. Security beefed up in Karachi at Youm-i-Ali

CNews KARACHI: Strict security measures have been taken in metropolis at Youm-i-Ali on Thursday.CCPO Karachi Azhar Ali Farooqi told Geo News that heavy contingent of Police, Rangers and other law enforcement agencies have been deployed and hidden cameras were installed at the routes of the procession that would come out after Zohar prayers. The bomb disposal squad would screen the routes, which would be sealed later.CCPO Karachi said that MA Jinnah Road was not closed in the morning. It will be close before the procession. Nashtar Park, Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto Road, Father James Road, MA Jinnah Road, Empress Market, Regal Chowk, Preedy Street and Bolton Market would be closed for traffic.All the traffic coming from downtown will be diverted towards Bahadur Yar Jang Road whereas traffic coming from Nazimabad will be diverted to Garden via Nashtar Road.Only those vehicles would be allow at link roads of Mazar-i-Quaid that have special stickers.
