Israel military troops enter Gaza

GAZA CITY: Israel launched ground offensive in Gaza on Saturday after carrying out air strikes in the city which killed hundreds of people and injured thousands others.Israeli troops entered in Gaza from 3 sides, Arab TV reported.Israel aims to "take over" areas in Gaza from where militants have fired rockets into the Jewish state, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's office said after ground troops entered the enclave."The Israel Defence Forces (army) is planning to take over rocket launching areas from where rockets have been fired over the past weeks and months," it said in a statement.The goal of the operation include "dealing a hard blow to the Hamas terror infrastructure and changing the security reality in the south over a long period of time," it said.Israeli tanks opened fire on Hamas positions after entering the northern Gaza Strip on Saturday and Hamas forces replied with mortar fire, witnesses told a foreign news agency.

Death tally in Israel air strike mounts to 230, over 700 injured

Israeli air force attacks Gaza, 195 reported killed

Awaz Apni GAZA CITY: Israeli air force fired about 30 missiles at targets in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, destroying several Hamas police compounds and killing more than 195 people, Arab media reported.The Israeli military confirmed they had conducted strikes, saying they targeted "terrorist infrastructure."Television footage showed dead bodies scattered on a road and wounded and dead being carried away by distraught rescuers. There was widespread damage to buildings.More than 155 people were killed and 200 were wounded in the attacks, Al Jazeera TV said, citing the head of the Gaza ambulance service.Hamas police spokesman Islam Shahwan said a police compound in Gaza City had been hosting a graduation ceremony for new personnel when it was attacked. Musharraf’s chance meeting with Israeli defence minister in Paris

CNews PARIS: A foreign news agency Monday reported that President Pervez Musharraf has held a meeting with Israel's defense minister in a Paris hotel last week. Presidential spokesman however, has denied meeting between President Musharraf and Israeli defence minister. In Islamabad, Foreign Ministry spokesman said Musharraf had a ``chance'' meeting with Israeli minister in Paris hotel. A foreign news agency citing Israeli sources reported President Musharraf and Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak met by chance at the a Paris hotel, where they both were staying. They then held a scheduled one-hour meeting the following day, the officials said. Israeli defence minister and President Musharraf discussed the Iran nuclear issue, the report said.
