CNews ISLAMABAD: The senators on Wednesday called for devising an independent foreign policy and urged the government to rebut the Western states' growing criticism against the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency. The Senate resumed debate on internal and external security in which Senator Maulana Rahat Hussain called for formulation of an independent foreign policy, adding that there should be a limited role of the intelligence agencies. He claimed that menace of terrorism confronting the country is the result of policies of the previous government. He said intelligence agencies of western powers are engaged in human rights' violations in different Muslim states while on the other hand they are pointing fingers at the national intelligence agency of Pakistan that is solely performing for the national security. CNews ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister approves bringing back Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) under PM's Control.According to CNews Prime Minister Syed Yousf Raza Gillani approved bringing back of ISI and IB under Prime Minister control and in this regard Prime Minister has issued a memorandum.It is pertinent to mention here that earlier ISI and IB were given under ministry of Interior, by the cabinet members when Prime Minister, Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani was in United States on his officail visit.

CNews ISLAMABAD: A late night press release issued by the Press Information Department (PID) said that the notification regarding Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) has been misunderstood and the ISI would remain under prime minister. The announcement said that it was stressed in the notification for extending cooperation between the interior ministry and the ISI for matters like war against terror and internal security. More details in this regard will be given in a detailed notification. Earlier, this was said in a PID press release that the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) - were placed under Interior Division. The Prime Minister placed the two intelligence agencies under the administrative, financial and operational control of the Interior Division under Rule 3 if the Constitution 1973. The Cabinet Division issued a memorandum under rules of business in this regard.
