CNews LAHORE: Supreme Court Bar President Barrister Chaudhry Aitezaz Ahsan Tuesday said that two third majority is not needed for the reinstatement of deposed judges. Talking to media here at Punjab Institute of Cardiology where he was brought for medical checkup, he said, ‘The government is afraid of me; that is why I am put under house arrest.’ Expressing his resolve, he maintained, ‘Whenever I come out of detention, I will press for the restoration of deposed judges.’ ‘Judges were deposed in conflict with the constitution and any officer above army chief can restore them to their offices,’ he said the government is afraid of any protest drive that can be jumpstarted if he comes out. Aitezaz was accompanied by a heavy contingent of police. Ahsan waved to the people and thanked them.

A suicide bomber, wearing a woman's burka, has killed at least 15 people in an attack at a busy police checkpoint in north-west Pakistan, officials say. Four policemen were among the dead, and at least 20 people were injured in the blast in the garrison town of Bannu. The bomb was detonated in a rickshaw, which had been stopped for inspection. It is the latest in a series of deadly attacks blamed on Islamist militants in the North Waziristan tribal region near the border with Afghanistan.
