4 dead, 50 injured in serial blasts in Agartala

CNews Agartala, Oct 01: At least 4 persons died and over 50 were injured in five blasts at three places of Agartala town on Wednesday evening. Central intelligence agencies had on September 25 warned the north-eastern states of an impending terror attack and BSF officials here confirmed having received the input. Five blasts took place in the Agartala town and it being the eve of Eid and the on-going Navratri festival, the areas were crowded- thronged by innocent civilians out to celebrate. Reports suggest the first blast took place at 7.30 pm, the second at 7.35 pm in MG Bazaar of Radhanagar while the third occurred at 8.15 pm. 2 blasts occurred at a bus stand while one in a local market. Police sources, quoting eyewitnesses, said two persons riding a motorcycle were seen moving suspiciously at Radhanagar bus stand and the blast took place there two to three minutes after they left the area. Ten killed in violence as polling continues in Pakistan

CNews ISLAMABAD: Polling continued for general elections on Monday as 10 persons were killed and several injured in incidents of violence.The polling process in most of the constituencies continued peacefully as incidents of violence reported in several areas, which claimed 10 lives including a union council nazim and a woman. The woman was killed in exchange of fire between political workers in Gujrat, while a union council nazim was killed in firing in Toba Tek Singh. The polling was suspended after killing of an activist of Muslim League (N) in NA-112 of Sialkot.

Gujarat govt supported Muslim massacre: report

BJP dismisses Gujarat riot claims

India's main opposition party has dismissed claims that its government in the state of Gujarat supported violence against Muslims in 2002. The allegations against the Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were made in secret video recordings by the Tehelka magazine. They have also been broadcast on local television. The BJP has described the allegations as a conspiracy hatched by India's governing Congress party. Elections are due in Gujarat next month. 'Election stunt' According to official figures, more than 1,000 people, mostly Muslims, died in the 2002 riots. Independent groups placed the figure closer to 2,000.A spokesman for the BJP, Prakash Javdekar, described the Tehelka report as an election stunt stage-managed by Congress. Gujarat massacre sanctioned by Modi: Indian media

CNews NEW DELHI: The Indian media has claimed that its investigation into 2002 post Godhra riots in Gujarat has found that the massacre of Muslims were carried out in full knowledge and sanction of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The six-month long "investigation brings confirmation that the Gujarat murder of Muslims was not a spontaneous swell of anger, but a planned genocide strategized and executed by top functionaries of the RSS, the VHP, the Bajrang Dal and the state authorities, with the knowledge and sanction of Chief Minister Narendra Modi," the media said.
