ISLAMABAD: An 11-member bench of the Supreme Court will conclude Friday hearing of a number of petitions against General Pervez Musharraf’s eligibility to contest the presidential election held on October six. Justice Javed Iqbal, heading the bench, made it clear during the proceedings on Tuesday that the hearing would be completed by Friday because one member of the bench would not be available next week. Attorney General Malik Muhammad Qayyum who started his arguments on Monday was due to resume arguments but he requested the bench to give opportunity to Abdullah Khan Dogar, counsel of petitioner Dr. Anwarul Haq first. CNews ISLAMABAD: An 11-member bench of the Supreme Court hearing petitions against the legality of president General Pervez Musharraf’s October 6 election will give a verdict within two weeks, the head of the bench Justice Javed Iqbal said Thursday after a three-hour session the court adjourned the hearing till October 22 (Monday). Ch.Aitzaz Ahsan, appearing as counsel of Justice (Retd) Wajihuddin Ahmed requested the bench to adjourn the case till the announcement of detailed judgement in constitutional petitions of Imran Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami and others. Pervez Musharraf for presidential election, Wednesday ordered that 11-member bench headed by Justice Javed Iqbal would continue hearing of these petitions. The bench had earlier sent its recommendation for full court to the Chief Justice after a brief session during which Hamid Khan, counsel for Justice (Rtd) Wajihuddin Ahmed, A.K. The 10-member Bench headed by Justice Javed Iqbal was hearing the constitutional petitions against President Musharraf’s nomination.
