PTCL denies withdrawal of UPS

CNews ISLAMABAD: PTCL administration has denied the news report that it had offered a conditional withdrawal from its newly-introduced unified pay scales structure in view of the countrywide protest by its employees. Spokesman of PTCL, Ali Qadir Gillani informed the newsmen that no decision regarding the fate of UPS has so far been made and the negotiations with employees’ representatives are underway to settle the issue. While, the employees union has announced that they would continue their protest till the unconditional withdrawal of UPS and fulfillment of their other demands. CNews ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Limited (PTCL) has accepted three demands of protesting workers on Thursday. According to sources, latest development is a result of intervention of PPP Co Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PTCL administration has accepted the three demands of the workers. The demands, which have been accepted, are withdrawal of unified pay scale, restoration of workers who were suspended during protest and payment of salaries to protesting workers. PTCL recovers wireless line rent, despite its end announced

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication (PTCL) wireless rent is being recovered in spite of its termination earlier announced.PTCL had announced abolishing its wireless line rent from September 27, 2007, but this could not be implemented as yet.Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA)’s chairman, Shahzada Alam on an effort to get in touch with him refused to talk on the subject. PTCL wireless connections are pre-paid and it is deducted on daily basis at about Rs7.00.
