PCB bans Akhtar for 13 international matches, fines him Rs 3.4 m

CNews LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board banned fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar on Thursday for 13 international matches and fined him 3.4 million rupees (56,000 dollars) for hitting a teammate with a bat.
Akhtar struck fellow fast bowler Mohammad Asif after team practice in Johannesburg before the start of the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup last month. He was expelled from the team and sent back home.
"He has been banned for 13 international matches consecutively -- it will start from the first Twenty20 match in South Africa" last month, the board's chief operating officer Shafqat Naghmi said.

BRIEF PROFILE OF DR. IMRAN FAROOQ (1960-2010) Dr. Imran Farooq, Convener of the MQM was born in Karachi in 1960. He belonged to a respectable family.
