 KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Martial Law could be the philosophy of MQM leader Altaf Hussain, but Pakistan Peoples Party has its own perspective on national issues. In a chat with editors and news anchors here on Friday, President Zardari said that there are sentiments in Sindh and Balochistan about disintegration of the country. “If any clause of the Constitution is contrary to Islam, it could be decided by the Parliament,” he said. He said Punjab is the stronghold of Pakistan Peoples Party and hub of party’s politics. To a question, Zardari said that action on 18th Amendment has been slow because the matter is pending in the Supreme Court. He said it is difficult to assess the losses caused by the unprecedented floods. “Had the government not approached the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for lending, Pakistan could have gone bankrupt,” he commented. Responding to a question about the alleged involvement of some Pakistani players in spot-fixing scandal, he said nothing has been proved yet. | |
