Pakistan Air Force - PAF received three F-16

Introduction PAF F-16A block 15 #84705 showing off the typical Pakistani camouflage scheme. Pakistan has ordered a total of 111 F-16A/B aircraft. Of these, 71 were embargoed by the US due to Pakistan's nuclear weapons program. Of these 71, 28 were actually built but were flown directly to the AMARC at Davis-Monthan AFB for storage. Over the years, various plans were conceived for these 28 aircraft: Pakistan wanted to get the aircraft or their money back; they were offered to various nations, none of which were interested; ultimately, the US Navy and USAF entered them into service as aggressor aircraft. After Pakistan's help in the war on terror, the US lifted the embargo. In 2005, Pakistan requested 24 new Block 50/52 F-16C/Ds (with option for as much as 55 aircraft). Ultimately an order for 18 F-16s was placed with an option on another 18. Inventory Peace Gate I Pakistani F-16A #82702 over the Indus river, near Attock. Note the standard PAF F-16 color sche...

CNews Report: Drug violence in the Mexican state of Chihuahua left 24 people dead in the span of 24 hours this weekend, the state attorney general's office said Sunday. The killings were scattered over four locations throughout the state, with eight dead in Juarez, 10 killed in the capital of Chihuahua, five killed in Cuauhtemuc and one killed in Parral. No other details about the killings or the victims were immediately available. Obama: Challenges real, but 'they will be met'

Awaz Apni WASHINGTON (CNewsworld.co.cc) -- Barack Obama delivered a sobering assessment of where America stands and a hopeful vision of what it can become during his inaugural address as the nation's 44th president."Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time," Obama told those gathered on the National Mall -- a crowd estimated at about 2 million -- and millions more watching on television and the Internet. "But know this, America -- they will be met," he said. Obama acknowledged the "nagging fear" of an imminent decline of the U.S. He firmly asserted that Americans were up to reversing the trends spawning that fear, whether they be social, economic or political. "Greatness is never a given. It must be earned," he said, further proclaiming that people who question the scale of U.S. ambitions "have forgotten what this country has alread...

Accusation should not be made without evidence: David Mulford

Awaz Apni NEW DELHI: The US ambassador to India David C Mulford said here on Friday that accusations should not be made without evidence in Mumbai terror attacks. When asked by reporters about the Indian Prime Minister’s observation that Pakistan’s agencies could be “involved” in Mumbai terror attacks, he said “I don’t think we want to take a view that we make accusations against certain parties without the usual evidences, proofs.” The US has been pressing for deeper understanding in Pakistan of the roots of the problem of terrorism, he said. “When Americans are killed anywhere, we pursue those people and that is what we are upto in Pakistan. We will press ahead and we will do it non‑stop as long as it takes,” he said. “Like India, we have a common agenda—we want to see Pakistan succeed, not fail, not become a serious problem, not become a failed state. That is the American agenda,” media reports quoting him said.

America COUNTDOWN BEGINS

Awaz Apni Washington: Barack Obama’s holiday is over, the countdown to his inauguration has begun and the smoothest presidential transition in recent history is hitting some bumps in the road. Yesterday, hours before the President-elect arrived in Washington for a final fortnight of preparations before taking office, his choice as commerce secretary announced abruptly that he was withdrawing before facing tough questions about business dealings in Senate confirmation hearings. Bill Richardson, the New Mexico Governor, said that a pending investigation into a company that had contracts with his state “would have forced an untenable delay in the confirmation process”, — even though he insisted that had done nothing wrong. Mr Obama accepted the decision by Mr Richardson, a former rival for the Democratic nomination and the most prominent Hispanic politician in America, with “deep regret”. Last month a federal grand jury was reported to be investigating how a company that had already threa...

Obama declines to comment on Israeli offensive

Awaz Apni WASHINGTON: A spokeswoman for president-elect Barack Obama declined to comment Saturday on Israel's ground offensive into Gaza, saying only the next US president was closely following events. "The president-elect is closely monitoring global events, including the situation in Gaza," his national security spokeswoman Brooke Anderson said in a statement. But she offered no comment on the violence in Gaza and, using a phrase repeated often by Obama and his aides, said: "There is one president at a time and we intend to respect that." Obama is due to take office on January 20. Israeli troops entered Gaza under cover of darkness on Saturday, escalating the war on Hamas after artillery pounded the Palestinian territory and warplanes staged dozens of air strikes.

On a night 45 years a...

CNews ON BOARD PRIME MINISTER’S SPECIAL PLANE: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that he has asked the Bush administration to differentiate between Pakistan’s economic and military assistance. Khamenei says Iran won't halt nuclear work

CNews TEHRAN: Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that Iran would not retreat in the face of demands by world powers for Tehran to halt sensitive nuclear work. "Taking one step back against arrogant (powers) will lead to them to take one step forward," Khamenei was quoted as saying by state television in a sermon. His comments come ahead of a Saturday deadline for Iran to respond to a package of incentives aimed at persuading it to freeze uranium enrichment, a process that makes nuclear fuel but also the core of an atomic bomb. Iran on July 19 held talks with representatives of major powers including EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and for the first time an official from Tehran's arch-foe the United States, William Burns. Iran was given until Saturday to give its final answer. But Iran has rejected any deadline, saying it was agreed in Geneva that it would during a two-week period examine the proposal put forward by permanent UN Security Counci...

Bear Stearns gets emergency funds

CNEws US: US bank Bear Stearns has got emergency funding, in a move that raises fears that one of Wall Street's biggest names is on the verge of collapsing. JP Morgan Chase will provide the money to Bear Stearns for 28 days with the Federal Reserve of New York's backing. JP Morgan is also trying to get long-term financing for Bear Stearns. Bear Stearns' problems stem from the global credit crunch and the worry is that other lenders may also have major funding problems, analysts said. Withdrawn funds Bear Stearns is Wall Street's fifth largest investment bank, and has been at the centre of the US mortgage debt crisis. Recently, speculation had intensified that it was struggling to fund its daily business. BBC business editor Robert Peston said Bear Stearns had been taken to the brink of insolvency over the past 24 hours by a sudden collapse in confidence on the part of its hedge fund clients. As a result, these funds rushed to withdraw their assets. "The rescue of B...

Thomas Houlahan Report

{CNews Special Report} An American Washigton based expert Thomas Houlahan has made his assessment on Pakistan’s Judicial crises and lawyers movement. He says ‘In listening to a lot of the commentary on the recent showdown between President Pervez Musharraf and the Supreme Court of Pakistan, I’ve noticed that much of the “analysis” has been pretty hysterical and that many of those offering the opinions on the situation seem grossly ill-informed. It therefore struck me that it might be a good idea for someone to inquire as to what exactly has transpired between President Musharraf and the Supreme Court. At least it would provide a set of facts for commentators to work off'. Houlahan in his 47 pages report has not offered his opinion on whether or not it was right or wrong in moral terms to allow Pervez Musharraf to run for president while still a serving Army general, or whether or not his running for president while in uniform was a good idea. This is simply an examination of Presid...
