LHC four deposed Judges take oath

(cnews lahore):Lahore High Court (LHC) four deposed Judges have taken oath again on their posts, as administered by LHC Chief Justice, Syed Zahid Hussain.The Judges, who took fresh oath, included Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, Justice Saqib Nisar, Justice Umar Ata Bandyal and Justice Asif Saeed Khosa.LHC existing Judges, law officers of the federal and provincial ministries of law, lawyer affiliated with the People’s Party, Kazim Khan and the relations of the Judges taking oath attended the oath-taking ceremony held in LHC Judges Lounge. None of the office-bearer of Lahore High Court Bar attended the ceremony. LHC security arrangements on this occasion were made stringent and unconcerned person was not allowed to enter into the Hall. Earlier, the ministry of law in a notification issued had said that the LHC strength of Judges has been raised from existing 50 to 60. 11 militants killed in clash with security forces in S.Waziristan

CNews RAWALPINDI: Reportedly, eleven militants have been killed and 15 to 20 were injured in an exchange of fire with security forces in South Waziristan Agency. According to ISPR, on the night between 26-27 August at about 2330 hours, around 75 to 100 militants attacked Tiarza Fort and Tiarza Bridge Checkpost in South Waziristan Agency. Zardari urges Nawaz to return to coalition

ICC postpones Champions Trophy in Pakistan

CNews DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) Sunday postponed until next year September's Champions Trophy in Pakistan over security fears.

The move came two days after South Africa refused to send their team, while players' associations from Australia, New Zealand and England urged their players not to travel to the troubled country over serious security concerns.

The decision to postpone the event was taken after a tele-conference of the ICC executive board in Dubai on Sunday.

Pakistan Cricket Board chief operating officer Shafqat Naghmi said while disappointing, the decision to postpone was a sort of victory for Pakistan.

"We are naturally disappointed but in a way the postponement is a victory for us. Under these circumstances there were only two solutions: either to relocate the event to Sri Lanka or postpone it.

ANP backs Zardari as presidential candidate

CNews PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party has announced to support the Co-Chairman of Pakistan People Party Asif Ali Zardari as president of Pakistan.

Talking to Cnews News in Peshawar, ANP Provincial President Afrasiyab Khatak said PPP provincial president and senior minister Rahim Dad Khan had met Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti and requested ANP to support Asif Ali Zardari in presidential election.

Tehreek-e-Taliban accepts responsibility for Wah blasts

CNews ISLAMABAD: Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan has claimed responsibility of the Thursday’s deadly blasts outside Pakistan Ordnance Factory in Wah Cantt.Tehreek’s spokesman, Maulvi Umer told Cnews News from an undisclosed location that suicide attackers have been sent in different cities including Islamabad, Multan, Lahore and Karachi to target military installations there.He said the Wah suicide blasts were carried out in reaction to the actions against Taliban in Bajaur Agency, Swat and other areas.The spokesman said the suicide attacks will continue until operations against Taliban do not come to halt.

POF blasts death toll rises to 100

CNews RAWALPINDI: The death toll in double suicide blasts at Pakistan Ordinance Factory rose to 100, while the number of injured is being reported as 110 here Thursday.According to Pakistan Ordnance Factories Board press release issued here, that the bomb blasts occurred outside two exit gates of POF Wah Cantt about 1440 hrs when a large number of workers of POF were coming out at the time of shift change. CNews WAH: At least 70 people were killed and about 80 others injured in two suicide bomb blasts outside Pakistan's main military arms factory in Wah Cantt. on Thursday.According to hospital sources, at least 70 persons were killed in the twin blasts at the gates of Pakistan Ordnance Factory.The attackers blew themselves up almost simultaneously outside two gates of the sprawling factory complex in Wah Cantt. It is one of the country's most sensitive installations.Two men apparently blew themselves up outside the factory during a shift change. According to reports, two blasts happened at the main and weapon gates when employees were leaving the factory after work.
