Awaz Apni KARACHI: Unknown gunmen opened fire at Yaum-e-Ali procession near Empress Market in Karachi on Wednesday, leaving several people injured. According to reports, unknown assailants ambushed the procession from the top of a building located near Empress Market. Meanwhile, heavy contingent of rangers and police rushed to the scene to control the situation. The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital. Three to four persons carrying automated weapons attacked the procession from the top of a two-storey building. Hussain said that law enforcement agencies are trying to control the angry participants of the procession. Six suspects have been arrested by the security agencies from the site of the attack. Taking notice of the incident, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Shah ordered immediate arrest of the attackers. Awaz Apni SUKKUR: The high flood at the Guddu Barrage inundated dozens of villages in Ghotki, Shikarpur and Kashmore districts on Sunday and the floodwater has hit here to sustain pressure at Qadirpur Lope in Ghotki, Sarhad and Obauro areas of Sukkur division. The Sukkur Barrage is witnessing a highest flood tide with water level 11,15365 cusecs. Flood water entered Goth Sommer Mallah at Jamshed Lope Bund and Ali Wahan. Over 30,000 people are feared to get affected by the potential flooding at Nusrat Bund, Aqil Agani Bund Puranaabad areas of Larkana. However, over 40,000 people have been evacuated to safer places in Khairpur, Shikarpur and Ghotki districts. Dozens of villages in Ghotki district have been submerged in the floodwater. PESHAWAR: A suicide attack at Diljam plaza near FC Chowk in the Saddar area of Peshawar killed FC Commandant Sifwat Ghayoor, brother-in-law of PPP-S leader Aftab Khan Sherpao and cousin of KP Governor Owais Ghani. Four people have been killed, and 10 others injured in the attack. The injured have been taken to Lady Reading Hospital. Three vehicles including one passenger bus have been completely destroyed. According to a report, a suicide bomber targeted an official vehicle on a motorcycle. The suicide bomber’s head has been recovered from the site. Intelligence agencies had prior reports of an attack in the area. The area is one of the busiest in the city, frequented by people all the time. Attacks in the past have taken place close to the area.

Awaz Apni KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement will observe a three-day mourning against the killing of party’s MPA Raza Haider in Karachi. Haider was killed in a drive-by shooting in North Nazimabad area of Karachi on Monday evening. A guard and an MQM activist were also killed in the ambush. In a statement issued from London, MQM chief Altaf Hussain termed as ‘shocking’ the assassination of party’s lawmaker Raza Haider. Hussain said his heart was shedding tears of blood at the martyrdom of Raza Haider. He also expressed grief over death of Haider’s guard and a party’s activist in the ambush. Hussain also paid a tribute to the martyred leaders, calling him a true activist, who stood by the part in every thick and thin.

At least four people have been killed in a drone strike in South Waziristan on Sunday. As per the reports reaching here, an unmanned US aircraft fired four missiles at a house in Sararogha area of Shaktoi. It merits to mention that Shaktoi is the native place of late militants leader Baitullah Mehsud. Two days ago, US missiles destroyed a compound used by militants killing at least 16 militants in South Waziristan. The house of Haneef Masti Khel was targeted in the area. The militants were believed to be members of Moulana Nazir clan. Unidentified miscreants gunned down a 35-year-old Nisar, a dumper driver in Orangi Town while injured one Abdul Wahid. Body of Fateh Sher (24) found in the precincts of General Hospital, Lyari whereas a tied dead body has been found from Korangi No 5. Five people killed on Friday night including Taj Rabbani, Waseem, Abdul Malik, Raju, Badshah Khan and Yasir Khan were gunned down by firing of unidentified persons. The total number of victims in target killings in the metropolis crossed 40 in a five-day span.
