POF blasts death toll rises to 100

CNews RAWALPINDI: The death toll in double suicide blasts at Pakistan Ordinance Factory rose to 100, while the number of injured is being reported as 110 here Thursday.According to Pakistan Ordnance Factories Board press release issued here, that the bomb blasts occurred outside two exit gates of POF Wah Cantt about 1440 hrs when a large number of workers of POF were coming out at the time of shift change. Meanwhile, talking to newsmen, Regional Police Officer Nasir Khan Durrani said that death toll has risen to 70, whereas critically injured were being given medical treatment in the hospital. Search operation ordered in Rawalpindi

CNews RAWALPINDI: A grand search operation has been launched here after the law enforcing agencies received the information of terrorists’ movement into the limits of the city.According to reports, all the SHO’s have been directed to search hotels, youth hostels and snap check suspicious individuals.The order also directs to search the parking lots.The operation is being conducted under the supervision of senior police officials.

UN chief condemns Pakistan bomb attacks

CNews UNITED NATIONS: UN chief Ban Ki-moon on Thursday strongly condemned the "terrorist" bomb attacks that targeted a truck carrying former Pakistan premier Benazir Bhutto and killed 101 people in Karachi. UN spokeswoman Michele Montas said in a statement that Ban was "shocked" by news of the attack, which struck upon on Bhutto's return home from exile. "The Secretary General strongly condemns this terrorist attack and ... trusts that all political forces will act together to strengthen national unity," she added.

200 miscreants killed in North Waziristan: DG ISPR

CNews MIR ALI: The Inter-Services Public Relations director general Major-General Waheed Arshad claimed that some 200 people had been killed in the recent operation in the militancy-haunted tribal region, adding that all those killed in the assault were “terrorists”. The top military spokesman went on to say that no air strike was launched against the militants since Tuesday afternoon. Maj-Gen Waheed confirmed that 48 soldiers had been killed while 20 sustained injuries during the recent operations. He also denied any kind of ceasefire between the militants and security forces.
