Samsung are pretty busy this month with what is the Galaxy Note 2 launch in the United States, which starts with an event on October 24 in New York. It has been a wait that some gamers won’t want to repeat, but the Minecraft Xbox 360 1.8.2 update is almost here and bringing with it new game modes, although the exact release date is unknown. Most Xbox 360 gamers that own Minecraft know the 1.8.2 update is currently being certified by Microsoft, which could take anything up to two weeks, and while the process started over a week ago it’s still hard to pinpoint a time when the download will become available. The new modes coming with the next Minecraft Xbox 360 update include Superflat Worlds, a Creative Mode, and a new Tutorial World that will replace the old world and this means saying goodbye to the terrains, structures, easter eggs, and pretty much everything. We have some pretty exciting news now for those of you that have been waiting to hear about the Xbox Live Summer of Arcade 2011 release schedule, as we’ve just received word that Microsoft has recently revealed both the dates and the prices of all five games. Previous Xbox Live Summer of Arcade campaigns have given us games such as Limbo, Geometry Wars 2 and Shadow Complex. According to Martin Gaston over on the  videogamer.com website, this year’s Xbox Live Summer of Arcade campaign includes Bastion, From Dust, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, Fruit Ninja Kinect and Toy Soldiers: Cold War. However, the game that is kicking it all off on July 20th is Supergiant Games’ action role-playing game Bastion, which features a dynamic narration and anime-inspired visuals. Late last month we looked into Microsoft’s acquisition of Skype, in this article we looked at how the deal was strategic for both Microsoft and Skype, we are now hearing how this is affecting current Skype employees. According to BusinessWeek (BW), four Skype Vice Presidents were recently dismissed (Christopher Dean, David Gurle, Don Albert and Russ Shaw), these dismissals aren’t meant to be public just yet, therefore the three tipsters who leaked the information want to remain anonymous. What is interesting about the four dismissals is the fact that a Skype spokesman has said “As part of a recent internal shift, Skype has made some management changes”, however BW suggests the timing of them losing their jobs seems to benefit Microsoft and Skype more than it does the execs.
