MQM will support army action against Taliban

Breaking News KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has termed terrorists as inhuman and said his party would support an army action against the Taliban. “If we want Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan, we will have to rise up against the Taliban,” Hussain said while addressing the general workers meeting at the Jinnah Ground via telephone from London. Search on for two US sailors missing in Afghanistan

A massive manhunt was under way on Sunday for two US sailors missing in eastern Afghanistan, as a Taliban spokesman claimed the insurgents had killed one and captured the other. Two days after the US Navy sailors went missing in Logar province, just south of Kabul, NATO's International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) said it had no fresh information on their whereabouts. After denying for 24 hours that they were involved, a Taliban spokesman Sunday claimed the insurgents had ambushed the pair, killing one and taking the other captive. "One of the two was killed in the exchange of fire and we arrested the second alive," said Zabihullah Mujahid, speaking by telephone from an undisclosed location. "We have taken both the body and the captured soldier with us and they have been carried to a safe location. We claim responsibility for it now," he told Awaz Apni. Four Norwegians among Five NATO soldiers killed

 Awaz Apni Reported: Four Norwegian soldiers were killed Sunday in a roadside bomb attack in Afghanistan, Norwegian newspaper Verdens Gang reported in its online edition. The soldiers were deployed in Faryab Province, the report quoted a Norwegian military spokesman as saying in Oslo. The spokesman said the attack had been launched by Taliban militants. If the latest deaths are officially confirmed, the death toll of Norwegian soldiers in Afghanistan will rise to nine.

US missiles kill 8 in South Waziristan

Awaz Apni WANA: US missiles hit a house Tuesday in South Waziristan tribal region along the Afghan border where the army has been battling Taliban fighters, officials said. At least three people were killed. At least two missiles struck the house, which was near Wana, the main town in the South Waziristan tribal area. Authorities were trying to establish the identities of those killed, informed the officials to foreign news agency. The U.S. has relied heavily on its covert missile campaign to take out al-Qaida and Taliban targets in the tribal areas. The vast majority of the missile strikes have focused on North Waziristan, home to several militant networks bent on attacking inside Afghanistan.
