CNews BANNU: Six militants including a major Al-Qaeda operative of Arab origin was in US missile strike in northwest Pakistan, a foreign news agency claimed Wednesday.Local residents however refuted the claims of killing of Al-Qaeda operative Abdullah Azam and other foreign militants in the strike. The foreign news agency quoted a security personnel who identified the Al-Qaeda militant as Abdullah Azam Al-Saudi, a senior member in Osama bin Laden's terror network.At least six persons including Abdullah Azam were killed and various others injured when a missile hit Indikhel area of FR Bannu, the report said.The targeted house was fully destroyed in the attack.However the local sources have refuted the claim of killing of foreign militants in the strike.

CNews BAJAUR: An explosion in a girls’ school razed the building to ground in Bajaur tribal agency on Saturday.Miscreants had planted explosives at various spots in government girls’ middle school building in Tangi area of Sallarzai tehsil in Bajaur tribal region, sources said. The building crumbled to ground as explosives went off with loud blast that rocked the area.No loss of life reported in the incident, sources added.

A suicide bomber, wearing a woman's burka, has killed at least 15 people in an attack at a busy police checkpoint in north-west Pakistan, officials say. Four policemen were among the dead, and at least 20 people were injured in the blast in the garrison town of Bannu. The bomb was detonated in a rickshaw, which had been stopped for inspection. It is the latest in a series of deadly attacks blamed on Islamist militants in the North Waziristan tribal region near the border with Afghanistan. Police officials said the bomber was wearing a burka, a woman's garment which covers the body from head to toe.He, or possibly she, set off explosives at a busy intersection when police approached to check the vehicle.
