More than 250,000 people have attended a march and rally in central London against public spending cuts. Labour leader Ed Miliband addressed crowds in Hyde Park and the main march organised by the Trades Union Congress passed off peacefully. But small groups attacked shops and banks with a stand-off in Piccadilly. There have been 202 arrests and 35 people injured, including five police. Ministers say the cuts are necessary to get the public finances in order. In the largest public protest since the Iraq war rally in 2003, marchers from across the UK set off from Victoria Embankment to Hyde Park, where TUC general secretary Brendan Barber was first in a line of speakers. CNews KARACHI: Karachi Stock Exchange on Thursday remained bearish on the sixteenth consecutive day of its ongoing trend as its 100-index bled away by over 400 points. However, at the end of the trading market got a slight positive trend and its benchmark 100-index closed at 10213 points loosing a total of 279 points. It was the lowest of 100-index in seven years. CNews ISLAMABAD: The Adviser to Prime Minister on Interior, Rehman Malik has appealed lawyers not to hold a protest rally in Islamabad on July 10 due to law and order situation. The statement issued by the interior ministry said that according to reports received from agencies, big cities of Punjab including Islamabad could be targeted by suicide bombers, therefore, an appeal has been made to lawyers to postpone their rally till the improvement of the situation. The statement added that the purpose of appeal is not to bar lawyers to hold rally and lawyers would organize it at a specific place after consultation with Islamabad admistration.

CNews LAHORE: Lahore lawyers held a protest rally against the presidential election on Saturday. Heavy contingents of police were deployed at Mall Road. Large number of policemen, apart of the plain-clothed officials, was posted at Aiwan-e-Adl, Town Hall, GPO Chowk, High Court Chowk, Regal Chowk and outside Punjab Assembly. Police had blocked traffic at various points of Mall Road by putting barriers and barbed wires.
