CNews SRINAGAR: Central leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has said detentions and house arrests are part and parcel of a freedom movement adding that Indian authorities could not suppress the movement by force. Talking to media, Mirwaiz said that India has stepped up atrocities in Kashmir during last two months to suppress the freedom movement with brutal use of force. Mirwaiz said Kashmiris with peaceful protests have raised the issue on global level. Thousands of people attended protest rallies in the valley throughout last month, he added. To a question, Mirwaiz said the movement couldn't be crushed now as it has also gained support from the Indian Intelligentsia which is stressing for peaceful solution of the longstanding dispute. He stressed the need to engage people of Kashmir in the ongoing composite dialogue between India and Pakistan to work out the solution of the dispute.

CNews SRINAGAR: Security forces enforced a strict curfew in the occupied Kashmir on Sunday and detained Yasin Malik to prevent him from holding a pro-independence rally.The curfew was in force in the summer capital Srinagar and other Muslim-majority towns ahead of Monday's planned rally at the main city's Red Square, or Lal Chowk. According to Kashmir Media Service, policemen used loudspeakers to urge residents to stay indoors. Thousands of troops have been deployed around the venue, with all entry points blocked by fencing and barbed wire. Police sealed off many neighbourhoods in Srinagar with barbed wire and warned people against defying the curfew.Late Saturday night police detained senior separatist Yasin Malik in a raid near Red Square.
