A survey conducted by UK’s leading price comparison website says that a large number of UK motorists are driving cars without insurance. This trend is increasing at an alarming rate. In 2009 33% more drivers have joined the group of uninsured drivers. Steve Sweeney, head of car insurance at moneysupermarket.com said : “How disappointing to see so many Brits have taken to the roads uninsured - it’s a worrying thought every fifth car we see isn’t covered, and year on year the research reveals a staggering 33 per cent increase in the number of people driving uninsured.” He says that authorities can impose heavy fines on the drivers if they are caught without car insurance. They can even impound their car. If their cars are impounded they will have pay storage of the car to government.
