Karachi motorcycle pillion riding ban further extended

Amagazine KARACHI: Sindh government has further extended until January 10 the ban on motorcycle pillion riding here. Provincial Home Department, which had banned motorcycle pillion riding before Eid ending December 22, has further extended it until January 10. Pillion riding ban was clamped after last month riots in Karachi, which has been extended for the second time. Security organizations’ staff, women, senior citizens and journalists would remain exempted from this ban.

Zardari prohibits from publishing hailing ads

Deposed CJ caravan on move in Karachi

CNews KARACHI: The caravan of deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry is on his way to the center of the city and roving at Shahrah-e-Faisal at present. Accompanied by Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Justice Iftikhar was warmly received by former Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed along with a number of deposed judges and thousands of lawyers, political and civil society activists at Jinnah International Airport.Justice Chaudhry was given a rousing welcome when he came outside the airport by the thousand of people gathered there to welcome him. Escaped lion caught in Karachi

CNews KARACHI: A tamed lion, escaped from a home, was caught from nearby car showroom at the PECSH locality here in Karachi. People started making noise on Friday night as they found a lion strolling on the street. Police and municipal services’ teams rushed to the spot, caught lion and entrusted to master.  The incident appealed many young boys, aged, women and children. Sindh government has issued directives to take all wild pets into the custody of government here on Saturday. The order was issued by Provincial Minister for Wild Life Diya Ram after taking notice of the incident of escaped lion from a home in Karachi on Friday night. The minister also issued instructions to Secretary Wild Life for conducting an inquiry into the incident and submit the report within two days. He further advised the Director of Karachi Zoo Mansoor Qazi to take all wild pets into the government.

Water board handed to CDGK again

CNews KARACHI: The government of Sindh Saturday issued notification regarding the handing of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) to the City District Government of Karachi (CDGK).It should be mentioned that Sindh government took over KWSB two months ago on April 25, 2008, after which the differences appeared between the city government of Karachi and the government of Sindh. After taking over, Sindh government appointed the provincial minister for Local Bodies as its chairman.According to sources, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah sent to the chief secretary a summary regarding handing the KWSB to the city government.The Local Government Katchi Abadi also issued notice from Special Development Department, according to which City Nazim Mustafa Kamal would be the Chairman of the water board and MPA Haji Munawwar Abbasi its Vice Chairman.The board will comprise 15 members. According to sources, transfers of officers are expected on large scale in the board.

Shahbaz demands Sindh govt to arrest assassins of Tariq

CNews KARACHI: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said all the issues including the restoration of the deposed judges would be resolved and the ruling coalition would be kept from falling.He said this while talking to media on the occasion of Chehlum of assassinated leader of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Sindh Tariq Khan.Mian Shahbaz Sharif said the people of Pakistan would be given relief on all issues including price hike and power and flour crises.Shahbaz said consensus was achieved in a meeting with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani that anti-democracy elements would not be allowed to succeed in their plots.On this occasion, he offered condolences to the bereaved family of Tariq Khan and demanded the Sindh Government to expedite efforts for the arrest of culprits responsible for the killing.

Governor, Siraj Durrani, Mustafa Kamal speak to Press
