HEC declared the BA degrees of another six parliamentarians as fake, Awaz Apni News reported on Friday. Mazhar Hayat of PML-N has also been notified as holder of a fake degree. HEC sources told Awaz Apni News that the Venona State University did not verify Mazhar Hayat’s degree. Also, BA degree of Balochistan’s Senator Nawabzada Muhammad Akbar has been declared as fake by Abdul Latif Bhitai University, while a seminary sanad of a Balochistan MPA Abdul Samad has also been rejected by HEC. Seminary sanads of Two Khyber Pakhtunkhawa assembly members Abdul Qayyum Khan and Syed Javed Hussain have also been cancelled by the Higher Education Commission. Besides, Wali Muhammad’s sanad was also declared as fake.

The spokesperson of the HEC also confirmed his resignation and said that no one has yet been appointed in his place. He has also the credit to revive the higher education system and research activities in Pakistan. At present, Dr Atta-ur Rehman holds different positions including Director of H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry at Karachi University, Coordinator General of COMSTECH and Chairman, Higher Education Commission with the status of federal minister.
