KHAIRPUR: The Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai University of Khairpur has declared another 72 degrees fake, reveals a special inquiry report received by Awaz Apni Saturday. Those found to be holding fake degrees also include the son of former premier Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali, Umar Khan Jamali, and Senator Muhammad Akbar Khan Magsi. On the other hand, the government has stepped up its efforts to provide legal cover for senators, MNAs and MPAs holding fake degrees. According to the reports, from 2001 to 2006, 66 degrees of BA, BSc, B.Ed, B.Com and six degrees of MA were illegally obtained from the varsity. These degrees were issued after former president Pervez Musharraf had introduced graduation condition for participating in the general elections. Sources told Awaz Apni that the university had conducted a special inquiry on the directive of Sindh Governor. HEC declared the BA degrees of another six parliamentarians as fake, Awaz Apni News reported on Friday. Mazhar Hayat of PML-N has also been notified as holder of a fake degree. HEC sources told Awaz Apni News that the Venona State University did not verify Mazhar Hayat’s degree. Also, BA degree of Balochistan’s Senator Nawabzada Muhammad Akbar has been declared as fake by Abdul Latif Bhitai University, while a seminary sanad of a Balochistan MPA Abdul Samad has also been rejected by HEC. Seminary sanads of Two Khyber Pakhtunkhawa assembly members Abdul Qayyum Khan and Syed Javed Hussain have also been cancelled by the Higher Education Commission. Besides, Wali Muhammad’s sanad was also declared as fake.

Awaz Apni ISLAMABAD: Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Javed Leghari Wednesday said even a single degree of a parliamentarian, if proven fake, will put all the degrees under suspicion. Talking exclusively to Awaz Apni News here, the HEC Chairman said degrees of all the parliamentarians including Rehman Malik and Babar Awan are being scrutinized while copies of 161 degrees, which were unintelligible, have been sent back. “Had the degrees were in readable condition, the verification process could have completed within a three-four days,” Dr. Javed Leghari added.
