Afaq second big political prisoner after Zardari: Mirza

CNewsworld KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister Zulfiqar Mirza said that in his view Afaq Ahmed is the real leader of Urdu speaking community and he is the second major political prisoner after Asif Zardari, CNews reported. He was of the view that if Afaq Ahmed was a criminal then Altaf Hussain was a 100 times bigger criminal. He was addressing media at Mardan House here. Mirza pointed out that Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad forced him to say that he didn’t meet Afaq but ‘I admit that have met him not once but twice’. He said he would continue to act against gangsters and extortionists.  Pakistan People’s Party’s senior leader and Sindh’s former home minister, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, has declared Afaq Ahmed, the chief of Mohajir Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi), as the real leader of the Urdu speaking people,  “Afaq Ahmed is my inmate and I will continue meeting him,” he added. Telephone lines of 90 cut off: MQM

Spokesperson of MQM Anis Advocate has alleged government has cut their centre’s phone lines. An emergency meeting has been called to discuss the situation. MQM leader Mustafa Azizabadi has said while talking to CNewsworld that government was resorting to negative tactics. If any untoward incident takes place, only government will be responsible, he warned. Anis Advocate also alleged Sindh Senior Minister Zulfiqar mirza has meet Afaq Ahmed and during the meeting they planned to take over MQM’s main office. He further alleged efforts were on for Afaq Ahmed’s release from the jail. 

Breaking News Sindh home minister’s portfolio taken back

Breaking News KARACHI: The portfolio of Sindh Home Ministery has reportedly been taken back from Dr Zulfiqar Mirza appearenly due to his sickness. Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah will himself be overseeing the department in Mirza’s absence. The statements and stances of Mirza, who is also Pakistan Peoples’ Partly Sindh’s senior vice president, enlarged gulf between the ruling party and its ally in Sindh, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM). MQM had also been demanding of President Asif Ali Zardari to sack Mirza from his office. The provincial government was under pressure to change Mirza’s office, after unabated wave of target-killings in Karachi, poor law and order situation in the city and traders protest against extortion mafia. Qaim, Mirza with varying opinions over Karachi blasts

CNews Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Provincial Home minister Zulfiqar Mirza have been reported to be at variance with each other over the investigations of Karachi bomb blasts that ripped various parts of the city yesterday. Zulfiqar Mirza did not attend the special meeting to discuss law and order chaired by Sindh CM. Both the principal figures of the province held separate meetings one after the other with difference of some hours. Meantime, Sindh Home minister nullified the orders of Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah for suspending the TPOs, DSP and SHOs of the affected areas, saying the action against the negligent officers would be taken only after the investigations. None would be suspended before time, he added. Sindh CM instituted an investigative committee comprising DIG Police Aleem Jafery and AD Khawja; whereas, the home minister appointed Saud Mirza as the investigative officer to probe into the incidents.

Badin PPP, PML-Q supporters clash, 10 injured

CNews BADIN: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League (PML)-Q supporters at the polling station in the national assembly constituency NA-225 in a clash here resorted to firing, leaving 10 persons wounded, of them, 2 are in critical condition.Azizullah and Mir Muhammad Buledi are critically wounded among the 10 injured in the clash that took place between the supporters of PPP and PML-Q at the polling station, Qasim Soomro located near the ancestral village of PML-Q candidate Pappu Shah. The injured have been shifted to Badin Civil Hospital. Dr. Zulfiqar Mirza of PPP and former PML-Q MPA Ali Bukhsh Shah alias Pappu Shah are braving the real contest in this constituency of the national assembly here.
