MQM will support army action against Taliban

Breaking News KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has termed terrorists as inhuman and said his party would support an army action against the Taliban. “If we want Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan, we will have to rise up against the Taliban,” Hussain said while addressing the general workers meeting at the Jinnah Ground via telephone from London. Altaf Hussain strongly condemned the attack on Malala and two other students by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He said Malala Yousafzai is the daughter of the nation and the attack on her life was an attack on education. MQM claims ‘ANP backed land mafia behind Karachi violence’

AwazApni KARACHI: Central Leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Dr. Farooq Sattar Saturday called for prompt and strict action against ‘land mafia, drug mafia and arms mafia’ to ensure peace in the metropolitan city. At a press conference called in emergency, the MQM leader flanked by members of MQM Rabitta Committee Raza Haroon, Nasreen Jalil and Wasay Jalil alleged that Awami National Party (ANP) continued to function as a political party until it was led by Bacha Khan but ‘now the sole objective of the party is to patronize land mafia, drug mafia and an armed group’. “It was ANP’s armed terrorists who attacked MQM’s office, killing one of our worker while (some) other party members who were seriously injured are still under treatment at a hospital,” he alleged. Dr. Farooq Sattar said 'land grabbers' are challenging the writ of the government and called for steps to put a strict check on the same.

Three killed, several injured in G-Johar firing

Awaz Apni KARACHI: Three persons were killed and several others injured in incidents of firing here in Gulistan-e-Johar while a bus was also set ablaze, Awaz Apni News reported Friday. According to sources, unknown armed men opened fire on an office a political party in Gulistan-e-Johar Block 17 in which several persons were injured, some of them seriously. Three of the injured succumbed to their injuries later at a local hospital. According to Muttahida Qaumi Movement, its unit office in Gulistan-e-Johar came under fire attack by armed men. A bus was also set on fire in the area as violence erupted after the firing incident.

Altaf welcomes President Zardari’s views

Awaz Apni LONDON: Commenting on President Zardari’s speech on the occasion of 2nd death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM)’s Chief Altaf Hussain said views expressed by President Zardari are valuable and MQM welcomes it. In a statement, Altaf Hussain said people of Pakistan, whether belonging to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) or any other political party, had condemned Benazir Bhutto’s assassination. “Leaders and workers of PPP were emotional today on the occasion of 2nd death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto, and it is natural,” Altaf added. MQM chief said President Zardari pointed out the sacrifice of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and other PPP workers for the people of Pakistan and democracy. MQM to join Federal Cabinet

Awaz Apni KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has decided to become a part of the Federal Cabinet.The decision to this effect was reached at a meeting of MQM Coordination Committee which was later ratified by MQM Chief Altaf Hussain.According to sources, MQM MNA Dr. Farooq Sattar, Senator Babur Khan Ghori and Senator Ahmed Ali are likely to take oath as Federal Ministers.It may be mentioned here that Aiwan-e-Sadr has already sent the invitations for the oath taking ceremony.

MQM contacts PML-N, other parties for 18th amend

MQM chief condemns acts of terrorism in Mumbai, India

AMagazine KARACHI: The chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain, has strongly condemned the acts of terrorism in the Indian city of Mumbai. In a statement issued here on Thursday he expressed sorrow over the killings of personnel of law enforcement agencies and the innocent citizens in such incidents. Altaf concerned over ‘sale of Sindh assets’

MQM condemns suicide by youth over harassment by bank staff

Cnews KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement has strongly condemned the act of suicide by a youth over manhandling by bank staff.According to a statement of MQM Raabta Committee, those who take loans worth billions of rupees get their loans written-off and no action is taken against them. MQM Raabta Committee urged the government to take notice of the suicide and manhandling of youth’s family members by bank recovery staff.
