Vice Foreign Minister of China call on COAS

Awaz Apni ISLAMABAD: He Yafei, vice Foreign Minister of China held separate meetings with army leadership and Advisor for Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik on Monday. He was also called on COAS General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani at GHQ and discussed matters of mutual interest. The COAS highlighted the need to de-escalate and avoid conflict in the interest of peace and security in the region.

President resigns, leaves Aiwan-e-Sadr

Kayani calls upon all segments of society to help army to ensure law, order

CNews ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani on Friday expressed satisfaction over the pace and manner of Army’s deployment for maintenance of law and order in the country for the forthcoming General Elections, strictly in accordance with the dictates of the constitution. He was heading a high level meeting in General Headquarters, which undertook a detailed overview of Military’s deployment.During the course of the meeting, he also reiterated the necessity and importance of holding peaceful elections. He asked all segments of the society to help Army and Law Enforcement Agencies to maintain law and order on this occasion. He expressed confidence that the nation will unite for a stable and peaceful Pakistan.

Shaukat Aziz meets Musharraf

Ashfaq Kiyani vows no let-up in terror war

CNews ISLAMABAD: Vice Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Kiyani vowed Friday that there would be "no let-up" in Islamabad's efforts in the US-led "war on terror." Former spymaster General Ashfaq Kiyani is set to take over as head of the military by November 15 provided that the Supreme Court upholds Musharraf's sweeping victory in last Saturday's presidential election. Kiyani "reiterated that there would be no let-up in war against terrorism 'til it is taken to its logical conclusion," an army statement quoted him as saying on a visit to the northwestern city of Peshawar. "He gave specific directions to all commanders with regard to the ongoing operation in Waziristan agencies and exhorted them to spare no effort in eradicating the menace of extremism," it said. Gen. Kiyani named Vice Chief of Army Chief

ISLAMABAD: Gen Ashfaq Pervez Kiyani has been named Vice Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan Army on Tuesday.Gen. Ashfaq Kiani has been promoted to vice chief of the army staff and he will take the top job when Musharraf vacates it. Gen. Tariq Majid has been named chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.Lt. Gen. Pervez Ashraf Kiyani has been promoted as General and appointed the Vice Chief of Army Staff, an ISPR statement said. Gen. Ashfaq Kiyani joined Pakistan Army in 1970 and he was promoted to Lt. Gen. rank in 2003 and appointed corps commander of Rawalpindi. He was Director General Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) before promoted as General. Gen. Kiyani will assume charge as vice chief of the army staff on Monday October 08. He will become the Chief of Army Staff after re-election of President Musharraf. Gen.
