Proposal moved to hike diesel price, lower petrol

Breaking News ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has forwarded a proposal to the Ministry of Petroleum seeking a hike in the price of diesel and reduction in that of petrol under the government's weekly mechanism for revising the rates of fuel prices, CNewsworld reported Saturday. Sources told the CNews that in the proposal OGRA has recommended a rise of Rs3.16 per litre in the price of diesel and a reduction of Rs2.09 a litre in the rate of petrol. The summary further proposes to increase the prices of kerosene oil and light diesel by Rs1.92 and Rs1.23 per litre respectively. It is believed that with the reduction in price of petrol the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) will witness a decline of around Rs2 per kilogram.

CNG prices to go up by Rs 2 a kg: Dealers

CNews KARACHI : Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association and CNG Dealers Association have opposed increase in electricity tarrif and said this will lead to an increase in CNG price by Rs 2 perkilogram.In a statement here Monday, chairman CNG dealers Abdul Sami Khan said that electricity price has increased by Rs 2 to 2.50 per unit while diesel price has also surged by Rs 3 per litre.Both these increases have eroded the profit margin of CNG dealers. The profit of dealers have come down to zero, unless we raise CNG prices by Rs 2 per kg we will sustain loss. This is unjustified, he added.

PM avers talks with N league possible

CNews KARACHI: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Sunday said that the Nawaz League was a reality as it had representation in the assemblies and negotiations could be undertaken with its leaders.The prime minister said this while addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Gymkhana here at North Nazimabad.He, however, parried the question about talks with Nawaz Sharif, saying the outcome would be known after reaching political reconciliation with the party. He said the issue of Nawaz Sharif’s return was sub judice and he could not comment on that.He announced Rs 100 million for North Nazimabad Gymkhana to be established at a total cost of Rs 220 million besides CNG buses for the city. The Prime Minister also announced to provide a 25-storey high snorkel to help carry out rescue and fire extinguishing work in the city. Number of CNG vehicles in country reaches 1,080,000

CNews KARACHI: Number of vehicles running at CNG all over the country has become 1,080,000 which is 116 per cent more compared to June 2004. According to the report, an increase in the number of CNG stations in the country has also been recorded and this number with a 172 per cent increase has become 1,488. In June 2004, the number of vehicles running at CNG throughout the country was 500,000 while the price of petrol was Rs.40 per litre. During these three years, gas production in the country increased by 188 MMCFD. According to the Pakistan Petroleum Information Service, production of gas increased by 566 billion cubic feet from December 2006 to June 2007 and has reached 32.3 trillion cubic feet. The analysts said that the reason of the vehicles’ change over to CNG is the continuous increase in the prices of petrol and diesel since 2004.
