CNews ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Q President, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has held an important meeting with President Musharraf here. In the meeting, Shujaat suggested that the President should face impeachment democratically. Sources told CNews correspondent Arshad Wahid Chaudhry that Chaudhry Shujat called on President Pervez Musharraf in President’s Camp Office. During meeting PML-Q President said the country couldn’t afford confrontation any more. He also told Musharraf that if the President would face impeachment democratically, then the PML-Q would stand by him. However, Chaudhry Shujaat made it clear that if the President tries to use 58-2(b), then he will have no support from PML-Q. Shujaat suggested Musharraf that he should step down before the start of the impeachment proceedings and the president should avail the opportunity to make an honorable exit.

CNews RAWALPINDI: President Pervez Musharraf has held an important meeting with Ch. Shujaat Hussain, Pervaiz Elahi and Hamid Nasir Chatha in which he gave the indication to foil the impeachment move.According to sources, the president said it was government’s democratic right to present the impeachment bill while its defence was his right. He vowed to foil any move to sideline him.

CNews ISLAMABAD: American ambassador to Pakistan, Ann W Peterson Friday met with President Pakistan Muslim League Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Ilahi, at their residence. During the meeting, both the sides exchanged views on the prevailing situation in the country and other issues in detail. They also talked about the present political, social, law and order situation of NWFP, FATA, tribal areas and Balochistan. The meeting continued for an hour in a very pleasant environment.

CNews ISLAMABAD: Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain called on President Musharraf at the President House in Islamabad. “The president has consented that Chaudhry Shujaat will continue to lead the Pakistan Muslim League-Q”, sources said. The leader of opposition in National Assembly Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Chaudhry Wajaat Hussain and senator Muhammad Ali Durrani also attended the meeting that was continued for three hours.The meeting was held amidst speculations of handing over the PML-Q top office to Pir Pagara or Hamid Nasir Chattha.The president had also met Hamid Nasir Chattha on Wednesday.

CNews ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly Monday elected PPP's Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani as the new prime minister of the country with thumping majority. Gilani bagged 264 votes. The rival candidate Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, fielded by the Pakistan Muslim League-Q and its allies secured 42 votes. In a maiden speech on the floor of National Assembly after he was elected as Prime Minister, he said, “I request the national assembly as my first job to pass a resolution for UN probe into the assassination of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.” Elaborating the top priorities of the new government, the newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani vowed to take all out efforts for the supremacy of parliament. ISLAMABAD: The united opposition on Sunday nominated Farooq Sattar of MQM as joint candidate for the slot of Prime Minister. This was announced in a joint press conference of the United Opposition at the residence of PML president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, who had hosted a reception in honour of the opposition leaders. Chaudhry Pervez Ellahi was nominated as the joint parliamentary leader of the united opposition in the National Assembly, said Farooq Sattar while giving briefing to the newsmen. PML-Q will nominate its candidate for slot of speaker National Assembly, Mr. Sattar said, adding that newly elected MNA of MQM Khush Bakhat Shujaat will be the joint candidate for the slot of the deputy speaker National Assembly.
