APDM’s Central Committee meets today

CNews ISLAMABAD: All Parties Democratic Movements (APDM)’s central steering committee would hold meeting today (Wednesday) at Central Secretariat Tehreek-e-Insaf that would likely to follow the recommendations laid forward in All Parties National Conference on 17 and 18 June. The meeting would also decide the next meeting of APDM for forming the course of action in future. The meeting would be presided over by President of Jamat-e-Islami Punjab Amir Liaqat Baloch while the leaders belonging to he allied parties would attend meeting.

Safe passage be given to Musharraf to step down: Imran

CNews ISLAMABAD: Chief Tehreek-i-Insaaf, Imran Khan has urged all the political parties to come together and provide safe passage to President Pervez Musharraf to step down. Addressing a news conference here on Friday, Imran Khan ruled out the holding of free and fair elections, saying the security forces, which are supposed to provide protection to the people, have themselves become target of terrorism. “This is not the right time for holding elections in the country but for political reconciliation,” he maintained. He said APDM will soon convene a meeting the main agenda of which will be to devise a strategy aimed at giving a safe passage to President Musharraf to leave his post. Imran Khan said policies pursued by the President to fight against terrorism are mainly responsible for the worst law and order situation in the country. He also blamed the former prime minister for what he called his flawed trade policies. Imran Khan also announced to visit Nau Dero shortly.

Durrani proposes APC to combat terrorism

36 members of NWFP Assembly tender resignations

CNews PESHAWAR: Thirty-six MPAs of Jamaat Islami (JI), Pakistan Muslim League (N) and Awami National Party (ANP) have resigned from the NWFP Assembly today.The NWFP law minister said that the MPAs of Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam (F) would not submit resignations as the Assembly would be dissolved on October 8.At the meeting of the NWEP Assembly held in Peshawar, 24 MPAs from Jamaat Islami, eight from ANP and four from PML (N) submitted their resignations. Speaker NWFP Assembly Bakht Jahan Khan received the resignations of the JI members from Provincial Ameer Siraj-ul-Haq while the resignations of PML (N) were submitted by parliamentary leader Anwar Kamal Khan Marwat.The ANP members presented their resignations before the speaker after delivering their speeches and left the house.Two JI members, speaker Bakht Jahan Khan and Raja Faisal Zaman did not resign.After the resignations were submitted, the speaker announced to adjourn the meeting till 10 am on Monday.

Resignations of 44 Punjab MPAs approved

CNews LAHORE: Speaker of Punjab Assembly Thursday approved 44 resignations tendered by the MPAs belonging to APDM parties and issued notification about cancellation of their assembly membership. Total 47 members of Punjab Assembly had submitted their resignations including five government members. The speaker issued notices to three MPAs Akram Gujjar, Khalid Kalyar and Amir Jewel Sahotra asking them to explain their positions regarding the resignations they had given to Rana Sanaullah Khan along with their authority letters.

Red Mosque take-over by militants won’t be allowed: Musharraf

ISLAMABAD: President Pervez Musharraf has categorically stated the re-take-over of Islamabad Red Mosque would not be allowed at any cost. PESHAWAR, Oct 2: Parties in the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) on Tuesday requisitioned a session of the NWFP assembly to discuss a four-point agenda.The move came one day after opposition members had filed a no-confidence resolution against Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani, pre-empting APDM move to get the assembly dissolved.The requisition, signed by 39 lawmakers from the ruling MMA, Awami National Party, Pakistan Muslim League-N and Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf, seeks a debate on net hydel profit, annual development programme, Tameer-i-Sarhad Programme and the law and order situation in the province.Speaker Bakht Jehan Khan told Dawn that the assembly would be summoned on Wednesday to discuss the four-point agenda.The no-confidence motion, though unlikely to get through owing to the absolute majority enjoyed by the chief minister in the 124-member house, was moved on Monday to prevent the dissolution of the NWFP assembly and enable President Musharraf to get re-elected for the ...

162 APDM MNAs, MPAs tender resignations

ISLAMABAD: 162 National and provincial assemblies members of All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) have submitted their resignations on Tuesday. However two MPAs from Balochistan and one from Sindh Assembly took back their resignations. Members of APDM belonging from NWFP assembly had postponed their resignations after the no confidence move was moved against CM NWFP Akram Khan Durrani. 86 APDM members of National Assembly presented their resignations to Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain. Five Members of PML (Q) Members tendered their resignation before Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain. Five members of National Assembly belonging to ruling PML (Q) Dr. Saira Tariq, Akhtar Kanju, Ali Hassan Gilani, Bilal Virk and Shahzadi Umarzadi Tiwana submitted their resignation to the Speaker. Musharraf’s reelection could not be challenged in any forum: Sher Afghan

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for parliamentary affairs Dr. Sher Afghan has said that under clause six of the Article of 41 of the constitution the reelection president general Pervez Musharraf could not be challenged in any forum including the Supreme Court.He stated this while talking to Geo News on Monday. There is no punishment for those who do not exercise the right of vote in the presidential election, he said, adding that the candidate bagging majority votes will be elected as the president. PESHAWAR: The All Pakistan Democratic Movement (APDM) in its meeting at Peshawar Thursday decided to render collective resignations of the MPs of member parties of the movement on October 2.The important meeting of the APDM, presided over by President MMA Qazi Hussain Ahmed, was hel at Jhagra House, Peshawar on Thursday.
