Five killed, 13 hurt in Wali Bagh suicide attack

CNEWS CHARSADDA: Five persons killed and thirteen wounded in suicide attack in Wali Bagh, the residence of ANP leader Asfandyar Wali Khan in Charsadda.ANP leader remained safe as relief operations were launched immediately after the attack. Interior Advisor Rehman Malik has ordered investigation of the incident.According to CNews correspondent four injured have been in critical condition adding that the death toll could increase. According to DIG Mardan Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, a suicide attacker tried to enter in Wali Bagh, the residence of Awami National Party leader. ANP backs Zardari as presidential candidate

CNews PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party has announced to support the Co-Chairman of Pakistan People Party Asif Ali Zardari as president of Pakistan. Talking to Cnews News in Peshawar, ANP Provincial President Afrasiyab Khatak said PPP provincial president and senior minister Rahim Dad Khan had met Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti and requested ANP to support Asif Ali Zardari in presidential election. It was agreed in meeting that ANP would support Zardari presidential election in NWFP Assembly.

Karachi blasts aimed at inciting ethnic violence: Rehman Malik

CNews ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Affairs, Rehman Malik has said that security has been put on high alert across the country after the Karachi blasts.Talking to media here at Parliament Lodges, Rehman Malik said law and order situation across the country particularly in FATA will be reviewed in a couple of days.He said important evidence have been collected regarding the alleged group involved in the Karachi bombings but these cannot be disclosed to media.The Advisor said the aim of recent Islamabad blast was to target police while the blasts in Karachi were aimed at triggering ethnic violence. But the conspiracy was foiled with the stand taken by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain as well as the Chief of Awami National Party (ANP) Asfandyar Wali, he added.He said allegations regarding Pakistan’s involvement in Indian Embassy in Kabul are completely baseless.

Zardari to consult allies over 18th amendment package

ISLAMABAD: People’s Party Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has decided to start consultations over the proposed 18th constitutional amendment package with the coalition partners. “Awami National Party’s Asfandyar Wali will meet Wednesday afternoon with Asif Ali Zardari,” ANP spokesman Zahid Khan said. The two leaders will discuss the constitutional package, NWFP government matters and other issues. The constitutional package is likely to redefine the appointment and removal of judges and the presidential powers. Federal Minister of Law Farooque H. Naik recently said he was working on a constitutional package that will create balance of powers between the president and the prime minister.

NWFP denies govt protocol to deposed CJ

CNews PESHAWAR: NWFP government will not provide official protocol to the deposed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on his arrival here to attend a convention.Provincial Minister for Law, Barrister Abdullah talking to CNews News Wednesday termed the provision of government protocol to the deposed CJ a step that would not be based on reality, saying “we should also try to end the VIP culture.”However, he said, complete security will be provided to Justice Iftikhar Muhamamd Chaudhry when he comes to attend the convention here.Barrister Abdullah said whatever decision Asfandyar Wali and Asif Ali Zardari take in connection with the judges’ restoration will be acceptable to the NWFP government.
