Ruling alliance to finalize charge sheet today

CNews ISLAMABAD: The Special Draft committee of the ruling coalition on Saturday held it’s meeting to discuss the charge sheet against President Musharraf. The meeting was held in the chamber of Leader of the House in Senate Raza Rabbani. The committee decided to prepare a detailed charge sheet on constitutional irregularities, misuse of power and misconduct of the president. Sherry Rehman, Farooq H. Naek, Mian Raza Rabbani, Farhat ullah Babar and Ahsan Iqbal attended the meeting. PML-N Ishaq Dar could not attend due to some personal reason. The committee further discussed ruling coalition’s strategy for August 11 National Assembly session. Special draft Committee will meet again today to finalize the draft of charge sheet against the president.

President’s impeachment cannot be challenged in SC: Naek

CNews ISLAMABAD: Minister for Law and Justice Farooq H Naek Saturday said the supreme court of Pakistan has no authority to challenge the impeachment powers of the parliament. Talking to media he said Supreme Court also has no powers to stay the process of impeachment. SC can’t challenge the independence and the supremacy of the parliament. Constitution does not permit any institution including the SC to hit the sovereignty of the parliament. The powers of impeachment lie with the parliament and no one has a right to interfere in it. Referring to constitution he said removal of the president was possible if he violates the constitution, commits gross misconduct or goes physically incapable. A detailed charge sheet was being prepared keeping in view aforementioned reasons. Punjab Assembly resolution on August 11: Shahbaz

CNews LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Sharif has said that the process of the impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf would kick off in the slated session of the National Assembly current month and the required number of the assembly members for getting the impeachment carried over was with the alliance. Talking to the media on his arrival from Islamabad here, he said that the resolution relating to the impeachment of the President would be presented in the Punjab Assembly on August 11, which would demand from the President to take vote of confidence from the assemblies. Shahbaz Sharif said that the ruling alliance stands firm on the impeachment of President and as regards number games it possessed the majority in assemblies and the alliance would be successful in its objective. Punjab chief minister said that we still stand firm on our previous stance as regards the reinstatement of judges, who would be reinstated immediately after the completion of impeachment process.
