Awaz Apni LONDON: Chief of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Haroon Lorgart, has said that the latest match fixing scam is a conspiracy of a British tabloid weekly to defame the cricket team, Awaz apni reported Wednesday. Haroon Lorgat, talking to a foreign website in London, said that the criticism on the security and anti-corruption unit of ICC regarding match fixing is baseless. This unit works on a specific set method and does not have the right to arrest, capture or hurt anyone. He added that the ICC will not expand the limited role of the anti-corruption unit which is providing full assistance to British police. “The anti-corruption unit of ICC is performing its duty and as the chief executive of ICC, I am satisfied with its performance,” Haroon Logart added. PERTH: Pakistan T20 skipper Shahid Afridi is set to miss the only Twenty20 clash with Australia after he was banned for two Twenty20 matches on Sunday. The International Cricket Council found Afridi guilty of tampering the bill during the final one-day international against Australia. Afridi admitted the charge, after which the match referee put a two Twenty20 matches ban on him. Coach Inftikhab Alam described the ban as ‘unfortunate’. It may be reminded here that Shahid Afridi was seen tampering the ball with his teeth during the final ODI match.

CNews DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) Sunday postponed until next year September's Champions Trophy in Pakistan over security fears. The move came two days after South Africa refused to send their team, while players' associations from Australia, New Zealand and England urged their players not to travel to the troubled country over serious security concerns. The decision to postpone the event was taken after a tele-conference of the ICC executive board in Dubai on Sunday. Pakistan Cricket Board chief operating officer Shafqat Naghmi said while disappointing, the decision to postpone was a sort of victory for Pakistan. "We are naturally disappointed but in a way the postponement is a victory for us. Under these circumstances there were only two solutions: either to relocate the event to Sri Lanka or postpone it. "Had it been relocated it would have deprived us of the hosting rights,"  Naghmi said. "We are sure that the event will be held in Pak...
