CNews RAWALPINDI: Leader of the House in Senate Raza Rabbani Saturday said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) unanimously decided to field party Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari to contest the presidential election. Addressing a press conference here flanked by various party leaders including Khurshid Shah, Sherry Rehman, he said PPP never deceived the people of Pakistan. He said it was the first time in the history of Pakistan that the efforts led by the coalition parties under the leadership of Asif Ali Zardari sent home the dictator of the time. CNews ISLAMABAD: An important meeting between Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif started today (Tuesday) at Zardari House.The meeting is expected to mull over the issues including restoring the judges deposed during last year's emergency and the impeachment of Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf. The meeting between Zardari and Sharif is being described by political observers as a "make or break" situation. CNews Islamabad:Issue of restoration of deposed judges will be challenge in the Supreme Court of Pakistan sources from Aiwan-e-Sadar revealed here on Thursday. Strategies have been formulated in case if the executive order is given or the bill is presented in National Assembly for the restoration of deposed judges then the issue will be challenge in Supreme Court. Sources said petition against the restoration of deposed judges will be filed by the opposition Muttahida Qaumi Movement and Pakistan Muslim league Quaid (PML-Q). The assemblies would be dissolved if the situation gets worst. Meanwhile the Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan Abdul Hameed Dogar would also have the authority to call the army to control the condition sources said.

Police on Monday started removing barbed wire outside the house of the deposed judge following an order by the newly-elected Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, an CNews photographer witnessed. The development came minutes after new Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani ordered the release of Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and dozens of other judges in his first speech after being elected by parliament. "I order all the detained judges to be released immediately," said Gilani. If reinstated as the PPP and PML-N party coalition has vowed, the judges could rule Musharraf's re-election as president for another five-year term illegal and effectively oust him from his position.
