Awaz Apni ISLAMABAD: A strong earthquake shook various areas in Pakistan early Monday, sending people running from their homes.However, there were no immediate reports of any casualties or major damage.The cities jolted were Islamabad, Swat, Chitral, Gilgit, Bonair, Peshawar,Abbotabad, Kohat, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Mirpur, Batgram, Hangu, Kurk and Azad Kashmir.The epic centre of the earthquake was Hindu Kush mountain range, according to the Meotrological department.The Met Office said that the intensity of the tremors was registered 5.7 on Richter scale.According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake shockwaves were felt at 4-13 in the early morning on Monday.

CNews LAHORE: Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated in some parts of Lahore, Faisalabad and Gujranwala today(02 oct).Eid prayers offered Thursday at Oonchi Masjid in Bhati Gate area of the walled city in Lahore.Eid prayers also offered at Masjid Enayat Rizvia in Samanabad area of Faisalabad. Moreover Eid prayers congregations were held at Islamabad Chowk, Gujranwala and other localities of the city. The prayers leaders criticized announcement of Eid-ul-Fitr on Wednesday and termed it violation of Sharia.

In their sermons, Ulema highlighted the philosophy of Eid and prayed for progress and solidarity of the country and Muslim Ummah.Security was tightened in Islamabad to ensure safety of the citizens. The city was divided in three zones. Major congregations of Eid in federal capital were held at Faisal Masjid and Lal Masjid. Stringent security measures were taken in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta and Peshawar, while special security was arranged around mosques, Eidgahs and Imambargahs in all major cities and towns. Additional security contingents were deployed and ambulances arranged at key places to meet any untoward incident. In Karachi about 1500 Eid congregations were held, the largest gathering was held under the city government at Bagh-e-Jinnah, where Maulana Muhammad Ahmed Salimi led the prayers....

CNews GUJRANWALA: Four persons were killed when a vehicle plunged in canal near Gujranwala on Monday, while three others taken out alive, police said. A vehicle carrying seven persons from Attock to Sialkot, was fall in Nandipur Canal near Gujranwala due to over speed, resulting in death of four persons. Other three persons were taken out of the canal alive. Three dead bodies have been taken out of the channel, which has been closed for search of the fourth body. The deceased have been identified as Babar, Riaz Hashim Khan and Dawood Ali
