Kohat: blast near Saddar police station

CNews World KOHAT: A loud explosion took place in front of the main entrance of Saddar police station Thursday morning. According to initial reports, several persons received injures due to the explosion. The blast badly damaged the building of the police station; however the nature of the blast is not clear as yet. Several injured have been transferred to hospital in many ambulances, eyewitnesses confirmed.

Suicide blast in Lahore, 8 killed, scores injured

CNews LAHORE: Eight people have been killed including 5 police officials while 20 others have been wounded as a suicide bomber exploded himself at Allama Iqbal town near Dubai roundabout in Lahore amid Independence Day celebrations, police sources saidBomb disposable squad and rescue teams have arrived on the spot meanwhile the injured people have been shifted to the nearby hospitals.Suicide bomber was riding motorcycle who having reached near a police station beside Dubai roundabout blew himself up as the independence day celebrations were on progress, eyewitnesses said.Police and rangers troops have cordoned off the area while the security has beefed up in and around Iqbal Town.Emergency has been imposed and police and law enforcement agencies have been put on high alert in Lahore.

Karachi: Four die in Lyari firing

CNews KARACHI: Four persons were killed in gang war in Lyari area of Karachi as the armed men of Rehman Dakait and Arshad Pappu gangs were engaged in skirmishes in the locality, CNews News reported.A hand grenade was also lobbed at policemen during the skirmishes. According to reports some dead bodies were laying near the Lyari General Hospital but not being allowed to be taken from the scene. Police launched operation today against the criminal gangs involved in gang war in Lyari area of Karachi.About 150 policemen along with armored carriers and mobiles launched the drive against criminal gangs in the locality, town police officer Lyari said.

Unannounced curfew imposed in Kabal (Swat)

CNews SWAT: Home secretary NWFP Badshah Gul Wazir said that the government has to take further steps to control the situation in Mattah, an area of Swat. Here in Kabal, the attack from armed persons on the police station was averted and the security forces have imposed an unannounced curfew in Kabal. Talking with CNews News in Peshawar, home secretary Badshah Gul Wazir said that in the areas of Swat – Mattah and Kabal – law and order situation has become worse and to overcome it the government would take further steps. He told that the security forces have averted the attack from militants at the police station in Kabal. However, according to independent sources, the militants attacked the police station after which flames were seen rising from the police station. Mirza would be new chief in Karachi blasts probe

CNews KARACHI: A new chief investigator would resume his office today (Thursday). Saud Mirza, the chief of criminal investigations at Karachi, will now head the five-man team probing last week's bombing of Bhutto's homecoming parade that killed 136 people, said the sources. The Sindh police chief replaced the previous chief investigator, Manzar Mughal, after Bhutto raised objections on Mughal appointment.

Two killed, 15 hurt in Faisalabad road mishap

CNews FAISALABAD: Two persons were killed and 15 wounded when a bus overturned near Faisalabad on Thursday, police said. A speedy bus traveling from Sangla Hill to Faisalabad was upturned near Chak Jhumra railway station while anticipating a sharp turn, police said. Two passengers of the bus were killed in the accident on the spot, while 15 were injured and transferred to nearby hospital. Police has registered case against the bus driver who was also wounded in the mishap.

Eid-ul-Fitr being observed with religious enthusiasm

Blast in Kohat music center destroy 6 shops

CNews KOHAT: Six have been destroyed when a bomb blast ripped into a music center in Gambat area of Kohat but no causality was reported. Police sources said that a powerful blast occurred in Salim Khan market that destroyed six shops completely. However, no loss of life was reported. Gambat Police station had registered the case against unknown persons.
