CNews LONDON: Rallies took out both in support and against the President General Pervez Musharraf when he arrived here at 10 Downing Street to meet the British Prime Minister, Gordown Brown in the last leg of his European tour. The pro-Musharraf demonstration was staged by Pakistan Muslim (Q) on his arrival at 10 Downing Street. They were holding party flags, photos of the President, and banners to show support to him. The protest rally was taken out jointly by PML-N, Pakistan Peoples Party, Tehreek-i-Insaf and Jamat-i-Islami. Holding flags of their respective parties and banners, the activists chanted slogans against President Musharraf. Due to the above demonstrations, President Musharraf was given entry to the 10 Downing Street from the Foreign Office gate and not from the main gate. CNews PESHAWAR: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman called on MMA President Qazi Hussain Ahmed here on Monday.Maulana Fazlur Rahman visited the residence of ailing Qazi Hussain and inquired about his health. The two leaders also discussed political situation of the country. They agreed to convene MMA supreme council meeting after recovery of Qazi Hussain Ahmed. Jamat Islami leaders Shabbir Ahmed Khan and Ghulam Ali were also present during the meeting.

CNews ISLAMABAD: An 11-member bench of the Supreme Court hearing petitions against the legality of president General Pervez Musharraf’s October 6 election will give a verdict within two weeks, the head of the bench Justice Javed Iqbal said Thursday after a three-hour session the court adjourned the hearing till October 22 (Monday). Ch.Aitzaz Ahsan, appearing as counsel of Justice (Retd) Wajihuddin Ahmed requested the bench to adjourn the case till the announcement of detailed judgement in constitutional petitions of Imran Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami and others. The bench rejected the plea. “The case can not be lingered on for indefinite time as it is a high profile case. We want to finish this case in 10 to 12 days,” Justice Javed Iqbal said, pointing out that one member of the bench has proceeded on leave abroad. CNews PESHAWAR: Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) in NWFP announced to stage protest demonstrations tomorrow against the nomination of Shamsul Mulk as caretaker chief minister. JUI provincial General-Secretary Maulana Shujaul Mulk announced this late Wednesday. Talking to CNews News, JUI Peshawar Amir Maulana Ameerullah Haqqani said his party has reservations over the nomination of Shams as the chief minister, adding his appointment is not good for the rights of the province. A procession will be taken out in this connection from Masjid Qasim Ali Khan from tomorrow morning, he added.

ISLAMABAD: 162 National and provincial assemblies members of All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) have submitted their resignations on Tuesday. However two MPAs from Balochistan and one from Sindh Assembly took back their resignations. Members of APDM belonging from NWFP assembly had postponed their resignations after the no confidence move was moved against CM NWFP Akram Khan Durrani. 86 APDM members of National Assembly presented their resignations to Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain. Tehrik-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan was the first parliamentarian who tendered resignation. After him other APDM leaders submitted their resignations.
