Over 100 dead in Balochistan quake

CNews QUETTA: More than 100 people have been killed in an earthquake struck parts of Balochistan whereas scores of people still trapped under the rubbles. Dozend of injured are under treatment as government has imposed emergency in all hospitals of the province. Pishin, Ziarat, Qila Abdullah, Chaman, Loralai, Sibbi, Mastung are badly-hit areas. Several houses and buildings have been collapsed. According to the Geological Survey of Pakistan, the epic center of the quake was in Chiltan mountains. Ziarat is the worst hit area where 10 people were killed in land sliding whereas four people were killed in Khanozai. Death toll in different parts of Balchistan has reached 33. Ten bodies were recovered from the rubbles and shifted to hospital in Ziarat. According to ISPR, contingents of FC have been dispatched to affected areas for rescue operation along with a medical team. 40 people killed, dozens hurt as moderate intensity earthquake rattles Balochistan

CNews QUETTA: At least 40 people died and dozens other sustained injuries when a 6.5 intensity earthquake jolted most parts of northern and central Balochistan early Wednesday morning. The jerks were felt at 0430 hours and 0510 hours which demolished and damaged scores of houses in Ziarat, Quetta, Kuchlak, Pishin, Chaman, Mastung and Loralai. In Ziarat, which is the worst affected area the district nazim Dilawar Khan Kakar confirmed death of 25 people in union council Kawas, Werchum and Kach. He feared that the death toll could go up as land sliding reported at road links to surrounding villages. Similarly, one 18-year old girl died while five other people would critically hurt as their poorly constructed houses failed to withstand the tremor in Khanozai, tehsil of district Pishin. Rain, snowfall continue in northern, hilly areas

CNews MANSEHRA: The sequence of rain and snowfall in the northern and mountainous areas persisted, triggering low gas pressure causing inconvenience to the people, however, several link roads have been cleared of the piles of snow allowing free-flow of traffic. Following several days of downpours in the NWFP districts of Mardan, Charsadda, Naushehra, Dir and Sangla including Peshawar the sky is clear. Swat’s upper areas including Bahrain, Kalam, Utrot and others have received several feet of snow. District Mansehra and Balakot due to snowfall witnessing chill weather. The biting cold shooting up demand for fuel triggered low pressure at CNG pumps and household supply of natural gas unleashing hardships to the people.
