CNews New Delhi, Oct 13: Investigators probing the terror attack on the shrine of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti have found that the SIM card in the mobile used to trigger Thursday’s explosion was in the same name as that used in Mecca Masjid blasts in Hyderabad in May this year.
The SIM card recovered from the mobile phone attached with the unexploded device leads once again to Babu Lal Yadav of Noida whose photograph has been used by militants to purchase the card, sources said.
The explosive material, tri-nitro-toluene (TNT) with a little mix of RDX, had been connected to the alarm of the mobile phone. The alarm, which passes a small amount of electric current, would help in charging the explosive material and trigger the blast.
The recovery of the SIM card and assembling of the bomb, which had been kept in a tin box with a packing of iron pipes to be used as splinters, were quite similar to that used in the Mecca Masjid blast at Hyderabad in May this year.
Investigators said there was a possibility of Karachi-based Shahid Bilal, who heads Bangladesh-based Harkat-ul-Jehadi Islami, being the mastermind of the explosion at Ajmer as well.
In a related move, a team of CBI visited the blast site in Ajmer as the agency, which is probing the Mecca Masjid blast, wanted to see whether there was any link between the two incidents.
Foreign hand in blast?
Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil suggested cross-border links to the terror attack in Ajmer Dargah, saying the investigations into the blast have gone "as far as our borders".
He made the comments after visiting the Sufi shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti this morning, which was hit by a blast on Thursday evening killing two and injuring 17.
"I am fully aware of the progress of the investigations and how far it has reached. The investigations is going as far as our borders," Patil told reporters here.
The Home Minister, who offered chadar at the shrine, also visited the injured at the hospital where they are treated and promised all help to them.
"We are with you in this time of sorrow. The centre and the state government will provide all help to those victims," Patil said.
Patil told mediapersons at the Circuit House here that it was premature to say anything about the investigations being carried out in the case.
"If we discuss and say much about the investigation it might benefit all those who were behind these blasts. It is better not to discuss much about it," he said.
The Home Minister said the Central and state government would form a policy to ensure safety of the shrine and thus be taking more security measures.
PM announces ex-gratia
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh to the next of kin of those killed in Ajmer Dargah blast on Thursday.
Singh also announced Rs 50,000 compensation to each of the injured, a PMO spokesman said.
Raje promises action
Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Sindhia on Friday promised to bring to book the culprits behind Thursday’s blast.
"People of Ajmer have worked together to maintain peace and solidarity during the time of crises, and I pledge that with the grace of almighty we will nab the culprits who were behind this incident," said Sindhia.
