CNews ISLAMABAD: Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated with religious enthusiasm and fervor across Pakistan today on Sunday (October 14).
The Eid prayer will be offered at Eidgahs, Masajid and open places all over the country. In their sermons, Ulema and Khateeb will highlight the philosophy of Eid and will pray for progress and solidarity of the country and for the Muslim Ummah.
They will pray for the liberation of occupied Muslim territories, including Jammu and Kashmir, and peace in Afghanistan and Iraq. Meanwhile, markets and bazaars have been illuminated creatively on the eve of Eid and people are giving final touches to their preparations.
Eid shopping reached its climax on Saturday night. Business centers of other peripheral areas remained jam packed with women shoppers.
The faithful will offer prayer and pray for the glory of Islam in addition to the progress and prosperity of Pakistan while the Imams would deliver special sermons to highlight the significance of this day.
The timings for the Eid prayers are from 7:00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. Police has also completed necessary security measures by deputing additional police force in all Eid Gaghs, parks and shopping centers.
The mobile police have also been directed to conduct extensive patrolling on Eid day. Local philanthropists would also visit hospitals, prisons and SOS village to distribute sweet and Eid gifts among the patients and inmates.
The administration of the federal capital has made special security arrangements on this occasion. The city has been divided in three zones. Similarly, stringent security measures have been taken up around the mosques and imam bargahs in most larger cities of the country including all four provincial capitals.
In Karachi, there would be nearly 1500 congregations on different places. The largest Eid prayer congregation would be held at Bagh-e-Jinnah under the aegis of City Government at 8:00am with Maulana Mohammed Ahmed Saleemi leading the prayers.
Governor Sindh Ishratul Ibad, City Nazim Mustafa Kamal, MNAs, MPAs, high civil and military officials and the diplomats of Muslim countries will offer Eid Prayers there.
The large Eid prayer congregations in Lahore would be organized at Badshahi Masjid, Minar-e-Pakistan, Model Town Park, Data Darbar and Bagh-e-Jinnah.
In Quetta, Eid Prayers would be offered on more than 300 places including many mosques, madaris, Eid Gahs, parks and open areas. The largest Eid gathering would be held at Central Eid Gah Tooghi Road, where Governor Balochistan Owais Ahmed Ghani and other officials would offer Eid prayers.
