Govt in contact with all political parties: PM

CNews ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Sunday that the government was in contact with all the political parties as part of efforts aimed at national reconciliation so that the concerned efforts could be taken on a single platform for the development and prosperity of country.The Prime Minister said this while addressing a ceremony held here to share Eid greetings with the poor here at Prime Minister’s House.Some handicapped who were badly affected during October 2005 earthquake were also present on the occasion.He urged the people to remember the poor in need while celebrating the Eid festival. “Allah Almighty has blessed us with this occasion for celebration and we must help those in need and share Eid greetings with them,” he said. Congratulating people of Pakistan on this happy occasion, he said help of the destitutes nurtures the feelings of affection and promotes a sense to accommodate others. It also helps create an atmosphere of unity, thus leading to the establishment of an ideal welfare society, the Prime Minister added. Prime Minister Aziz said the government realizes the problems of poor people including widows and has always extended assistance to them in order to share their difficulties through Baitul Mal and other institutions. The Prime Minister said the government realizes the miseries of quake-affected and some of whom have been invited in this ceremony. He said those people who became handicapped during the devastating quake two years ago are being looked after properly and added he is happy that they are getting better. He urged the youth to get education and learn skills as these are imperative to earn decent livelihood. “We need to work hard and shoulder our responsibilities with honesty in order to have unity and discipline and to meet all the challenges,” he added. He said present government has launched various schemes for women aimed at providing them an opportunity to learn some skills and increase their income. He said a scheme has also been initiated through Baitul Mal to help out the deserving poor people and those who are unable to work. “We are trying to give them a reasonable amount so that they could lead their life with dignity,” he added. The Prime Minister said the government was making efforts to keep up the pace of progress while promoting religious, moral and social values in society. “It is obligatory for every Pakistani to extend a helping hand to the government in this regard,” he said. “We shall soon be able to achieve the goal of making Pakistan a modern, prosperous and developed country.” The Prime Minister said during last eight years the reform policies in Pakistan have provided good governance. “We had come with passion and commitment to give boost to every sector and would never disappoint the nation. We continued our struggle and now the world has realized our progress,” he added. The Prime Minister said with clear vision, true commitment and sincerity every destination can be achieved. The Prime Minister said the unprecedented economic reforms have doubled the size of the economy and Pakistan is now on a high growth trajectory with sustained growth.
