ISLAMABAD: Federal Ministry of Interior on orders of the Supreme Court Monday suspended Inspector General Islamabad Syed Marwat Ali Shah, SSP Naeem Khan and Deputy Commissioner Chaudhry Muhammad Ali for violence against lawyers, journalists and representatives of civil society on September 29 in Islamabad.A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry conducted the suo motu hearing of police violence against lawyers, journalists and civil society members in Islamabad.The court issued orders for immediate suspension of DIG, Deputy Commissioner and SSP Islamabad.The government issued suspension orders and appointed DIG Shahid Nadeem Baloch as Acting Inspector General Police. The officials at the Ministry of Interior have said that a three-member inquiry committee was investigating the incident, which will present its report in 10 days. However in view of the orders of the Supreme Court disciplinary action will be taken against the suspended officers.
