Karachi bomb blast damages electricity pylon

KARACHI: A High Tension Tower of Wapda near the Northern Bypass here was severely damaged by a bomb blast, while the other bomb planted by unidentified saboteurs was defused and meanwhile, electricity supply to several areas of the city remained suspended due to the tripping off of Baloch Colony Grid Station.Manghopir police said that the saboteurs had planted two bombs along with Wapda’s Hub-Jamshoro High Tension Tower # 84 at Deh Mai Gari area, of which, one exploded blowing off one of the pillars of the Tower, while another bomb strapped with the other pillar was defused.Bomb Disposal Squad Inspector Munir Sheikh told Geo News that the defused bomb was indigenous and weighed 4-kilo. Wapda SDO, Mustafa Kamal Panwar said that if the other pillar of the power pylon would also have fallen, then the power supply to a vast area of Sindh and Punjab would have severed. On the other hand, electricity supply to Bahadurabad, Baloch Colony, Society, Dhoraji Colony and Karsaz areas remained suspended due to the Grid Station’s trip off at Baloch Colony here.
