Musharraf’s success was sure even in case of full opposition participation in election: PM

CNews ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Saturday said the success of President Musharraf in presidential elections prove that the people want his leadership and vision to take Pakistan on way to progress.
Addressing a rally at the PML House where party’s supporters had gathered to celebrate Musharraf’s victory, he regretted that the opposition did not turn for the elections.
“Even if they had been there the victory would have belonged to the Muslim League,” he said as hundreds of supporters cheered and raised slogans in favour of President Musharraf.
Shaukat Aziz said today was a historic day for Pakistan as President Musharraf has gained a thumping victory in the presidential elections.
“This is a proof of people’s trust in his policies and that they want those policies to continue for the better future of Pakistan,” he added.
The PML, Shaukat Aziz added, said is the same party, which under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali created Pakistan.
“We will take it on road to progress and prosperity,” he vowed.
The Prime Minister, however, declared that the goal of taking Pakistan forward will not be realized unless the party has unity among its ranks.
“Together if we work with dedication then there is no reason why Pakistan should not become a great nation on the map of the world,” he added.
He urged his party workers and those of coalition to gear up for the general elections and work whole-heartedly for the success of PML.
