CNews PESHAWAR: More than 300 armed miscreants were present in Swat, provincial home secretary here said on Thursday.
Home Secretary of NWFP Bacha Gul Wazir talking to Cnews News here said that no military operation will be launched in the area but action will be taken against those creating hurdles in the efforts for maintenance of peace and public order in the area.
The security men have started patrolling at Kabal, Ayub Bridge and Kanju areas of Swat, he said, adding that between 300 to 400 miscreants and criminals were present in the area. He indicated probable presence of foreigners among the miscreants.
These persons have been armed with automatic weapons and rocket launchers, which might be smuggled from Afghanistan, tribal areas and other places to here, home secretary said.
Provincial home secretary said that the government was working to control the situation peacefully. All DCOs and DPOs have been directed to hold Jirgas in their areas, he said
He said the government would establish its writ in the area and check posts will be established at various places.
The miscreants have support of over 4000 local people, he apprehended.
