CNews Islamabad:President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday strongly condemned the recent acts of rowdyism in Karachi and Lahore and vowed that on no account subversive elements would be allowed to disturb the peace.President Musharraf and Prime Minister Gilani said during a call by the Prime Minister on the President at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.Noting the incidents involving former Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Former Federal Minister Dr. Sher Afgan Niazi who were assaulted and treated inhumanelyThe two leaders stressed upon the need for developing an atmosphere of tolerance and understanding of differing points of view.They termed the incidents "totally unacceptable" and directed the concerned authorities to carry out an immediate investigation to identify and ascertain those responsible so that they may be brought to justice.The President and Prime Minister said that such acts of hooliganism were designed to vitiate the unprecedented cooperation and spirit of accommodation by political parties on all sides of the spectrum.The two leaders welcomed political reconciliation in the country and said the people of Pakistan wish to see the country move forward on the path to progress as the solution of their problems lay in peace and harmony.During the course of the meeting, the President's forthcoming visit to China, the Boao Summit, measures to eradicate extremism and terrorism, prevailing political situation in the country and other matters of national importance came under discussion.
