CNews KARACHI: Renowned writer and literary figure Professor Dr. Abul Khair Kashfi passed away, at the age of 78, in Karachi.The deceased was buried at the graveyard in the premises of the University of Karachi after the namaz-e-janaza.Dr. Abul Khair Kashfi was admitted at a local hospital since Sunday due to paralysis and died at 3-15 pm on Thursday.He left behind widow, one son and four daughters.His namaz-e-janaza was offered in the park adjacent to the jama masjid of the University of Karachi.The namaz-e-janaza was attended by Karachi University’s vice-chancellor Prof. Peerzada Qasim, registrar Raees Alvi, Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, Anwar Ahmed Zai, naib ameer Jamat Islami Karachi Birjees Ahmed and other personalities of education and literature in a large number.Dr. Abul Khair Kashfi was associated with the Islamia College and the Urdu College from 1951 to 1958 and with the Urdu department of the University of Karachi from 1958 to 1994.He was the author of more than 40 books.

July 05: A Pakistani Scientist in Britain has invented a new chemical for processing plastic (polythene) bags which has the quality of dissolution after its use in 105 days.A manufacturing unit for these plastic bags was being set up in Turkey while interest has been shown in the setting up of a big unit and manufacturing firm’s head quarter in Karachi which will be used to supply such dissolvable polythene bags to Asian countries. The Director of UK based firm Bio Plast Biodegradable Plastics GL Punn while leading a 15 member delegation called on EDO Municipal Services City Government Masood Alam.
