Governor, Siraj Durrani, Mustafa Kamal speak to Press

CNews KARACHI:The ongoing dispute between Sindh Government and Karachi City Government on administrative matters was resolved and both sides agreed to carry on all affairs through mutual consultation. It was also agreed that instead of making any dispute an issue will be resolved through talks and provincial and city governments will work together for development of Karachi. These views were expressed by Sindh Governor, Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Local Government Minister Agha Siraj Durrani and City Nazim Mustafa Kamal while addressing a press conference after a 3-hour visit to various city areas.Dr Ishrat-ul-Ebad said paid a detailed visit to the city along with Agha Siraj Durrani and Mustafa Kamal with a view to accelerating the pace of development works. He said the works which City Nazim is implementing had the cooperation of federal and provincial governments and it will continue. He said these works would enhance the citizens' living standard. To a question Governor said the coordination is the basic aspect on which all sides have agreement that all matters should be managed through mutual consultation. He pointed out that when a new government setup comes, problems do crop up initially. However, what is important is that the cooperation which has come between provincial and city governments, will help solve the problems of people and if there will be any differences, the LG Minister and City Nazim would sit together and resolve them.Governor told a questioner that implementation of order for transfer of MD Water Board has been stopped for the time being.LG Minister Agha Siraj Durrani said his experiment of city's visit proved very fruitful. He said he had such a detailed visit for the first time.He said City Nazim Mustafa Kamal executed development works in a very short time and with hard work."For development of the city, we will work together", he said and added that for this not only provincial government will fully cooperate but the federal government too will extend help.Durrani said the misunderstanding that had developed with City Government has removed and now the city's problems would be sorted out by sitting together. When asked what is the ground for appointing a MPA from Larkana as Vice-Chairman Water Board, Durrani said making appointments is the prerogative of Sindh Government and in this regard the procedure has been legally carried out.Replying to a question Durrani said for the present he is the Chairman of Water Board. He said in future all matters would be resolved by sitting together. He told a questioner that Sindh Government has not cut down the funds of any district government. He said such a deduction has been done by federal government and Sindh Government will talk to the centre on this issue.Kamal said Provincial Minister Durrani is his boss. He said that to stall development of Karachi will not be in any one's favour nor anyone has such desire because development of Pakistan is linked with the development of Karachi. He said if Karachi will develop, then whole Sindh and whole Pakistan will progress.Mustafa Kamal said all matters would be dealt with mutual agreement and whatever happens will be in the city's interest.

In Depth: Could robots be the writers of the future?

CNETAnalysis: It might be concerned with aliens, outer space and dimensional jumping for now, but ‘sci-fi’ might have to be redefined if the latest advances in automated writing continue apace. Software that can construct sentences, analyse data and even put a ‘spin’ on a news story are threatening to make the newsdesk and the author’s writing room very different places. The end for journalists? Journalism isn’t complicated. The popularity of online news stories can be tracked – and therefore the importance of news easily ranked – while almost everything is written using the inverted pyramid structure . Since automated writing software can already do most of that, are we looking at the last generation of human journalists? Narrative Science’s Quill is the leading automated writing software title. It transforms structured data into readable, plain English stories that are identical to those written by humans, ...
