CNews KARACHI: The bulls returned to Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) Monday as 100-Index gained 139.52 points to close at 10,374.30, a dealer said. The turnover volume was low at 93.853 million shares as prices of 129 scrips sustained losses while 115 recorded gains and 21 remained unchanged. A dealer at a leading brokerage house said that the selling pressure was eased today (Monday) as bulls entered the market and resorted to fresh buying, boosting prices of leading scrips. Although, the Index was close to fall below 10,000 level, the buying spree gave support to the market and Index started moving up gradually. The news that Finance Minister Syed Naveed Qamar will visit KSE Tuesday, gave support to the confidence of investors, he added. The market capitalization was improved by Rs 48.61 billion to Rs 3.244 trillion. NIB Bank was the volume leader with a turnover of 5.989 million shares followed by D G Khan Cement 4.980 million shares, Arif Habib Sec 4.625 million shares, Engro Chemical 4.481 million shares and NBP 3.867 million shares. Lucky Cement closed at 79.27, NBP 115.48, D G Khan Cement 51.03, NIB Bank 9.48, OGDC 113.71, MCB Bank 221.43, Engro Chemical 217.05 and UBL 68.67. PSO recorded the highest increase of Rs 19.30 to 405.30 followed by Shell Pak which moved up by 19.10 to 434 while Unilever dipped by Rs 110 to 2180 and Jahangir Siddiqui went down by 18.72 to 355.80.

July 05: A Pakistani Scientist in Britain has invented a new chemical for processing plastic (polythene) bags which has the quality of dissolution after its use in 105 days.A manufacturing unit for these plastic bags was being set up in Turkey while interest has been shown in the setting up of a big unit and manufacturing firm’s head quarter in Karachi which will be used to supply such dissolvable polythene bags to Asian countries. The Director of UK based firm Bio Plast Biodegradable Plastics GL Punn while leading a 15 member delegation called on EDO Municipal Services City Government Masood Alam. The Executive Director of Bio Plast Pakistan Muhammad Hanif Awan and M. Sultan Mehmood Awan was also present on this occasion.
