Deposed CJ caravan on move in Karachi

CNews KARACHI: The caravan of deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry is on his way to the center of the city and roving at Shahrah-e-Faisal at present. Accompanied by Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Justice Iftikhar was warmly received by former Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed along with a number of deposed judges and thousands of lawyers, political and civil society activists at Jinnah International Airport.Justice Chaudhry was given a rousing welcome when he came outside the airport by the thousand of people gathered there to welcome him. Many of the lawyers and political leaders surrounded the deposed CJ and escorted him to the bulletproof car, provided for him by the Sindh Government.Welcomers showered flower petals and chanted deafening slogans in favor of reinstatement of judges.The convey, then, started to commute towards the center of the city via Sharah-e-Faisal amid thousands of political and civil society activists and law enforcement agencies personnel.Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry will address a dinner reception at Lawyers Club today in evening.Chief Secretary of Sindh Fazlur Rehman earlier said that no ban has been imposed over Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry’s address to Karachi and Malir Bars.The Sindh government will provide him foolproof security throughout his visit, he further said.Talking to CNews he said that the security of the deposed chief justice is the responsibility of police but the Rangers would also be available to assist the police.
