Cnews PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said tribal history is replete with great traditions and the tribes gave sacrifices for independence of sub-continent.
Adding a jirga at Governor House here, it was these tribes who laid down their lives for freedom from Dogar Raj, and gave Qauid-e-Azam their unconditional support and they are still sacrificing for Pakistan, adding Pakistan takes pride in its tribes as they defend Pakistan frontiers.
Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani and Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti were present on the occasion.
He said government is facing problems, of them, the greatest are terrorism and extremism and government needs cooperation from tribal areas people.
He urged the tribal people to extend their support to government so that the peace could be restored in the areas.
He said, ‘the government is aware of your problems and is trying to solve them’, adding the education in the tribal areas is 23 percent and healthcare facilities are unsatisfactory.
Several projects are being initiated in FATA areas, he observed adding development outlay of tribal areas would be increased by 100 percent from next fiscal year to boost the ongoing development process in the hitherto neglected and remote parts of the federally administered tribal belt.

The prime minister said the government has enhanced the Fata ADP by 30 percent for the current fiscal as it was increased to Rs.9 billion from Rs.7 billion, adding these facilities need peaceful situation in the area.
The prime goal of the increase in the development outlay in Fata is to complete the several uplift projects in education, health and clean drinking water sectors.
He said, ‘One cadet college has been sanctioned for an agency and the remaining six colleges would be announced by me later on,’ adding one Cadet College in would be set up in each tribal agency for providing quality education to the tribal youth.
Gilani said a medical college would be set up in FATA where educational activities would be started in next year, adding the quota of tribal students in professional colleges would be enhanced and the talented students would be awarded scholarships.
The prime minister said at least 532 tonnes of flour would be provided to the areas, adding the destroyed infrastructure of electricity in the area would be set up very soon.
He announced one billion rupee for electricity in FATA, as he termed the electricity problem as the greatest one.
The prime minister said employment opportunities are less in the FATA and government specified at least 10 percent quota for FATA in overseas jobs, declared to double the quota of lady health workers in fata.
At least 1500 levies personnel would be recruited from FATA areas, he said an amount of Rs1.5 billion has been allocated for forests.
The work on dams is also afoot, he said.
The Prime Minister said he would soon inaugurate a marble city in Fata as the belt was endowed by God with mineral resources. He also announced 100 'Lungis' for tribal maliks and increased in their allowances.
He urged the tribes to end sectarian strife ongoing between Shiites and Sunnis in some areas and said these sectarian riots are detrimental to none but only the tribes.
He appealed to all the scholars hailing from both the schools, to rise to the occasion to solve this problem.
Referring to the tense law and order situation in the areas, he said all the issues should be resolved amicably through negotiations, adding, ‘I don’t accede to coercion and use of force for solution of the problems.
He continued that he summoned a conference of all political parties, where the solution of present situation in the country would be sought.
