CNews KARACHI: Afia Siddiqui is innocent and she has been indicted in ridiculous charges, Dr Fauzia Siddiqui, the sister of Afia said in a press conference at Karachi Press Club here on Tuesday.Talking alongside with Chairman Human Right Commission Iqbal Hyder, Fauzia Siddiqui demanded that her lawyers should be allowed to meet her imprisoned sister.
She said her sister has been innocent and all charges leveled against her are baseless. She said the family doesn’t expect justice from the United States and the trial against her should not be conducted in United States.
“She was subjected to torture for five years but nothing found against her, we demand her immediate release from confinement,” Fauzia Siddiqui said. She said that the family is being given threats at telephone.
“We have written to the president and prime minister for justice,” she added.
Earlier, HRCP chairman Iqbal Hyder demanded that the family members of Dr. Afia Siddiqui should be allowed to meet her.
It is recalled that the family received an e-mail from US officials according to which., Dr Afia Siddiqui has been shifted to US and she would be made to appear in the court today.
The e-mail reveals that Siddiqui has been arraigned with charges of serious nature.
